Hi there, my wife's second pregnancy and she's starting to experience the same symptoms as the first: build up of phlegm that makes her vomit 3-4 times a day (yellow gunk)....she also has 'ordinary' morning sickness too. Last time the morning sickness finished after 3-4 months but she kept puking up the phelgm every day without fail - even when on the delivery table!

Help - doctors don't seem to have a clue and there doesn't appear to be many other Mums that have this...or am I wrong? I know the doctors should be concerned about the baby, but I'd like her to enjoy this pregnancy a little more.

Thanks...

I had/have similar thing. Everytime I brush my teeth or cough or similar and get even the tiniest bit of slime/phlegm etc in my mouth it makes me gag. When I am sick, mostly it is only phlegm or slime, not actual sick but it's still horrible. The only way I have found to deal with it is to self medicate with gaviscon or similar. It all seems to be tied in with heartburn for me too.

I have had this the entire pregnancy, it is really getting me down. The GP said it was a combination of immune system being low and the terrible weather we have been having. I sympathise.

I commiserate with you both . My wife's first pregnancy was really tough because of this. I will let you know if I find a cure/remedy somewhere else.

"Thedollshouse" - your doctor said pretty much the same as ours last time (and we had French and English doctors) - basically, they only care about the baby and not you (understandable but doesn't make it easy). My wife had this throughout her first pregnancy and in different climates - I think your GP is clutching a straws to get rid of you with "bad weather".

We saw an ENT surgeon a while ago (apparently a v. good one) who actually said that this is an unfortunate side effect of some women's pregnancies - you ladies appear to be suffering from the same as my wife. I'm going to try and speak to the surgeon again to see if he's heard of any remedies.

Good news is that you will feel so good after the pregnancy compared to your friends - the phlegm stop as soon as the little one comes out to play
