Morning Sickness and Work

Aaarrgghhh!

How does people cope with morning sickness and still go into work everyday!

I wouldn't mind if I had a routine and knew when I was going to be sick but every day for the last 3 weeks it's been at all times of the day!

I hate being off work but I can't cope with it and I tried to just deal with it in work last week and ended up with the worst headache ever which lasted 3 days.

I can't cope with work at the moment but I'm scared of going to the doctor and telling him that...is he likely to be sympathetic or tell me to get over it (as I have been told more than once over the last 3 weeks.

Does anyone else have any experience of this?

Feel so sorry for you as I remember the same thing. I had a job delivering training courses every day to groups of 30 people and I was being sick constantly. I just couldn't function properly. The only thing that helped was lying down! In the end I went to my doctor, burst into tears and said I just couldn't cope and was signed off for a couple of weeks. It did get better as I learned new ways of coping with it and recognising what made it worse/better etc. It is worth going to have a chat with your doctor.

I got to 14 weeks and one day it magically disappeared overnight. Hope you start to feel better soon.

My sympathies, definately go and see your doctor and hopefully get signed off while you work out how to handle it, you will learn the triggers etc. Also talk to your- hopefully sympatheitc- manager at work and see if there is any way to alter your hours/conditions - if not sympatheitc suggest that as an alternative to being off sick, and them not getting any productivity from you, with some negotiation you will do what you can.

I spoke to my manager when I was only 7 weeks because I was having problems. She was great and as luck would have it her goddaughter is due the same time as me - so I've been going in late when I'm sick in the morning, early when it's been hitting me late-afternoon and I've also got the option to work from home if I want. I'm glad I spoke to her though because my erratic time-keeping may well have just pissed her off if I'd not raised the issue.
