i have just got the sea sickness bands and i swear they have made a difference.

Is this your first? With my first i felt sick all the time and hardly ate a thing, although i was only sick a couple of times. This time i know i feel sick if i haven't eaten so i am eating constantly and feel much better than last time.

Also find something you can eat, (doesn't matter what) and eat it slowly but constantly, don't let yourself feel hungry at all

Because of this i was tiny in my last pg but fear i will be huge this time

I felt sick without being sick very often for most of my 1st pregnancy. Because I love my food I discovered early on that bland, starchy food really helped.

I used to eat ginger nuts in bed at 2.00 am every night. I craved marmite on toast and later found one of the B vitamins in Marmite is good for nausea. A glass of ginger beer with loads of ice was lovely too. Ginger is really good for upset stomachs.

i too am awake at night agonising over the fact that i feel so BLOODY SICK! i find that sucking a hard boiled sweet helps me to fall asleep through the nausea (although i do worry i may choke in my sleep)
oh and keep a snack by the bed alicehasamincepie is right, constant grazing on food seems to keep the sickness at bay for lots of women.

Winjy if it helps I started sleeping with lots of illows as being propped up a bit more rather than lying flat stopped me feeling so sick at night.

On the plus side, you've probabley onl got another 6 weeks of this...!

winjy · 23/12/2009 10:20

allibaba its funny u should say that coz i propped mself up last night(not so much due to sickness but due to a horrendously tight chest) and i found that i felt much better and didnt have any sickness either! result! had my first scan yesterday at 8 weeks (early due to mc in june) and i saw little heartbeat and bean clear as day...everyhting is fine so far so i not really that bothered about sickness too much now as long as my bean is fighting fit xxx

I have just dicovered that Pitta bread and humous works for me - there is a pot by my side constantly. Essentially you probably want plain, starchy carbohydrate baased food. Also a big fan of travel sick bands - wore them for whole 9 months last time!

I'm the same - nauseous every two hours, even during the night. I very rarely get more than two consecutive hours of sleep at the moment but at 12+5 I have resigned myself to the fact that I have to make myself eat something every couple of hours. Even when I feel horrendously sick I force it down and I always feel better within about 3 mins. Here's what works for me:

Toasted crumpet with butter
Salt & Vinegar Snack-A-Jacks / Chipsticks
Ready salted square crisps
Starbursts
White toast with jam/lime marmalade/butter
Pineapple juice

I used to have quite an adventurous palette and healthy eating habits but not anymore . I'm not gaining weight though (the silver lining), in fact I've lost a couple of pounds over last 6 weeks...but MW says that's okay at this stage. I'm hoping the nausea passes soon so that i can enjoy a yummy curry again! .
