Bit worried, as I feel so normal

Hello all

I had a BFP on Wednesday (and another when I re tested on Thursday) - strong pink line.

Am thrilled as we have been TTC for 9 months.

But honestly, apart from the lack of period and pink line, I wouldn't know I was pregnant.

Boobs are ever so slightly sore but only when I jiggle them. Am a bit tired, but not outrageously so. No nausea, no cravings, nothing.

So, has anyone else felt normal at this stage (about 4-5 weeks I suppose) and then everything turned out ok?

I even went to the gym yesterday and had a slow jog and it was fine.

I'm not wanting to jinx myself but I do worry about missed misscarriages.

Any thoughts?

Wow, congratulations Ozzie. I am delighted for you.

Don't fret, I was pregnant with both of mine and desperate for symptoms. Just like you I had no indications that anything was different (apart from +ve preg test and lack of period), but then I got to about 7 weeks and I had THE MOST HORRENDOUS morning/all day sickness for the following 10 weeks. Ugh.

Do you have any history of mmcs?

Focus on being thrilled and enjoy it!

Ozziegirly · 18/12/2009 03:43

Thank you Claudia - that is reassuring!

No, this is my first pregnancy so I'm really in the dark about how I should feel. I was expecting to be hit by MS and other symptoms, but I just feel fine.

I'm going to the Dr on Monday for the first appointment anyway - mainly because although it's probably a bit early, I don't really know what you have to do out here in terms of pregnancy care.

I am so excited, but also slightly terrified that something will go wrong. Funny because I am not a worrier at all.

Thanks for your post - it is really reassuring. Maybe I would be one of those people having a baby down the toilet because I never realised.

I am a bit scared to jinx it in case the MS suddenly starts!!

Enjoy having no symptoms for as long as you can - none of them are very fun!!

I am expecting DC3 and have had a symptom free pregnancy - it is only that I am 31wks and have a huge round tummy that gives it away for me!!

My other 2 pregnancies involved MS and feeling crappy this one is a breeze apart from the tiredness.

Unfortunately I have also had 2 MC's and there isn't a damn thing you can do about it - they are unfair and suck big time!!!

Try not to dwell on the negative and enjoy your lovely little 'secret'!!

It doesn't hurt to see your Doc early and find an Obs. I think I live in the baby breeding capital of Aust and found it impossible to register with any Obs at 12wks, but luckily managed to get in the midwife led care team at the local hospital.

Ozziegirly · 18/12/2009 06:02

Thank you esselle, it is reassuring to hear from you symptom free people (and congratulations on your third baby).

Good tip re the Obs as well, thank you. The hospital that I want to hopefully go for is a fairly popular one I think as it has a private maternity ward linked onto a main public hospital, so perfect if anything dramatic happens.

But I have no idea how soon I have to request that kind of stuff, and can't really ask anyone as I don't want to give the game away!

I am so thrilled and excited to finally be pregnant, I want to tell everyone but I am enjoying it just having a secret between DH and I.

I am the same but with DC3. I have had two awful pregnancies with hyperemsis and being sick numerous times a day from the start. Usually absolutely exhausted etc.

This time around I am a bit tired, bit nauseaus and am sick probably once a day. I have gone off coffee though and cant eat big meals without being sick.

Perhaps I am just having a 'normal' pregnancy which in comparison to the others seems easy. I am worrying though.

TishTosh21 · 18/12/2009 09:06

Im 10 weeks not and feeling slightly in the mornings if i havent eaten anything. Apart from that I havent had any symptoms at all apart from 2 missed periods and 3 pos preg tests.

Im still shi**ing myself that ill go to the 12 week scan and there will be nothing in there!

santaschristmascakeywakey · 18/12/2009 09:28

Congrats Ozzygirly and TishTosh21! When I fell pregnant with DD the only way I knew I was pregnant was no period and positive pregnancy tests.

No other symptoms in the early stages whatsoever, and there was only one day in the whole pregnancy where I felt a nauseous. DD is two now

Do try not to worry, not everyone has every, or even many, symptoms early on. Good luck!

santaschristmascakeywakey · 18/12/2009 09:30

Sorry PeppaPig, missed you off that message. Congrats to you too

hippopo · 18/12/2009 09:39

HI,

I had no symptoms until about 7 weeks and then I have had tiredness and nausea that comes and goes (that used to worry me too). I am 11 weeks now and have my 12 week scan on Wednesday (can't wait).

TishTosh21 - yes I know how you feel and all I can advise is you need to trust everything will be fine as it most likely will.

Speaking to my Mum and Dad they said when thay had me pregnancy tests didn't exist and they also don't remember having a 12 week scan either. I guess that was all they were used to but oh my goodness not sure how I would cope!!

Good luck everyone, xxx

JasHook · 18/12/2009 10:35

So glad for you Ozzie as I remember you from the TTC thread!

I had very few symptoms at all and ended up with only the very briefest bout of morning sickness for two days. Maybe you'll be lucky and have a normal but MS free first trimester!

feedthegoat · 18/12/2009 10:39

Congratulations! I had no real symptoms at all till we had a day trip to London when I was 7 weeks. I spent all day throwing up. The 2 and a half hour train ride home at 10 pm was awful. I can no longer see a picture of tower bridge without remember that it is where I vomited for the first time in pregnancy. Such happy memories .

Enjoy it whilst it last!

BellasSparklyBaubles · 18/12/2009 10:39

Ozzie - I was exactly the same as you, until morning sickness arrived with a vengeance at 7 weeks, so do not worry. Enjoy it - ime early pregancy can be difficult (morning sickness), mid-pregnancy is great (you feel fantastic and energetic) and the end is hard (feeling like a beached whale ).

All the best

CurlyCasper · 18/12/2009 12:35

Hi ozzie

Don't worry! I'm still feeling fine (other than tired) at nine weeks+. As you know from another thread, scan at 7+5 showed at normal size healthy baby. Best advice I can give is to get on an ante-natal thread for the month you are due, because then you see the range of symptoms (and non-symptoms) people at the same stage are experiencing.

My own mother had nothing whatsoever with both of us and said both pregnancy and birth were "a breeze".

And if you want to feel something, just poke your boobs to make them hurt (I'm still waiting for growth action there!)

Take care

Ozziegirly · 18/12/2009 23:36

Thank you all so much! It's so nice to hear that it's possible to have a fairly ok pregnancy. I think because I have read so many times "morning sickness means the baby is really doing well" that it makes me conclude "no morning sickness means that it isn't"

But equally I don't want to wish feeling terrible on myself.

My mum didn't have any MS either, but she did say she went off food and had the super smell sense - none of which I have.

But I will try to get on with enjoying it!

Congratulations to the rest of you as well, and thank you again for all your kind messages, it is really reassuring

Hi
I felt completely normal up until about nine weeks then I had a week of feeling exhausted and wobbly. Had no real sickness either all through pregnancy, just noticed that I felt delicate at certain things when normally I have a steel constitution!

I crapped myself when the 12 wk scan came up because I felt so normal! Had no real symptoms at all.

Felt fab up until about 28 weeks then things started to get uncomfortable and now I'm gritting my teeth until it all ends in approx 4 weeks!

Good luck!

YanknChristmasCrackers · 18/12/2009 23:54

I felt nauseous the night before my BFP with the first pregnancy, but lost it at 7 weeks.

With the second, I was a little worried because I felt completely fine, other than sore boobs which always happened before my period anyway. Then all of a sudden at 6 weeks I was sick one morning. And fine again for another week or so. Unfortunately after that I became more and more nauseous every day and started being sick multiple times a day, even needed medication!

So count your blessings if you're symptom-free at the moment---it could turn at any moment!

Ozziegirly · 19/12/2009 00:33

Yes I am slightly worried that I have jinxed myself by saying I have no symptoms and that they will start with a vengence!

No doubt I'll be posting soon saying "How do I get rid of crippling MS?"

OP posts:
RockBird · 19/12/2009 00:36

Congratulations!

I got an early BFP and spent the next couple of weeks thinking it was all a doddle and what was every other woman moaning about. Then my smugness came and bit me on the arse and I had horrible sickness and was knackered from about week 7 to week 14. The symptoms will come, don't worry. But if you're like me you'll be too excited to care much

hoops997 · 19/12/2009 09:42

congrats, just echoing everyone else really, I posted the same thing when I was around 7 weeks, no symptoms what-so-ever, so worried I went for a scan just to check that I was actually pregnant......anyway the sonographer told me, yes I was pregnant now go away and stop worrying, some people would kill not to have any symptoms, now think yourself lucky and stop moaning!!!!

Anyway am 25+1 weeks today and still feel great, if it wasn't for the large belly you wouldn't know!!!

Greatgoing · 19/12/2009 14:10

Just to reassure you I have had 3 pregnancies and no symptoms, but I also wanted to say don't feel like your worries are silly.

It can actually be quite terrifying to 'feel nothing' and as much as the competitive sickness bridage tell you to be 'grateful' and 'stop moaning' a symptomless pregnancy can be a very insecure, lonely journey. There is no constant physical reassurance that everything is ok, and you feel like you have to constantly apologise for not puking on demand and wilting away!

I just wanted to reassure you that I felt the same-symptoms never kicked in (didn't with my mother either), and it makes no difference; you are not 'more pregnant' if you are sick, or tired, or have stretchmarks. Sickness is your bodies reaction to the hormones; so people react, som people don't

Best wishes - you are not alone!

Hi - I had no symptoms til about 7 weeks and had nausea from then until 13 weeks ish, plus extreme fatigue. A couple of my friends spent months not knowing they were pregnant (one was 12 weeks when she found out), so they clearly had no symptoms. Now at 18 weeks I feel pretty good and people are surprised when I tell them I'm pregnant (no significant bump visibe yet). So you've no need to worry, everyone's different (not that i can talk - I'm worrying myself silly every day for a range of pregnancy related reasons - wish I could stop it, its no good for me!).

Good luck with everything everyone!

MumNWLondon · 19/12/2009 19:42

Hi - I am now 22 weeks with #3 and all three times no symptoms at all until around 7 weeks. Then I felt sick and wishes the symptoms would go away!

I am still running in the gym - although only for 10 mins now, but reast of workout largely unchanged.

So don't worry at all!

Ozziegirly · 20/12/2009 09:59

Thank you so much everyone, it really is so great to hear about all your pregnancies and to be reassured that maybe I am normal after all!

I don't really get PMT and never really got period symptoms, so maybe my body just doesn't react to my hormones all that much.

Or maybe it will all hit me in a couple of weeks and I will look back to this time with fond longing!
