Sciatica at nine weeks? Surely not, that's Not Fair

I have horrible twingey pain in my right buttock/thigh/leg. Can this be sciatic pain so early?

I did get this last time round but not until around 6/7 months.

Yep, I have had it since 7 weeks! At 13, it seems to have subsided a bit.

I had it from 9 weeks too (I'm now 33 weeks), sleeping with a pillow between my thighs/knees worked a treat.

i had it from then too and was horrible did see a physio but could only give me stretching exercises to do my dp couldnt move in bed for the tower of pillows lol

I had this at 9-12 weeks too.
It went away and came back at 24ish. I then had some physio which helped.
Now I jusr get a little bit of hip pain at night at 39 weeks.

I would recomend physio. I asked my midwife about it and I saw a physio who specialised in pregnancy (all through my local hospital, all free on NHS! )
Apparently I had a rotated pelvis, which she corrected and gave me exercises to do.

Yes, I had this with DC1 from about 4 mths, and with DC2 from 8 weeks! It won't necessarily get worse and worse though ? I always thought that the bigger you get, the more severe it will be, but I didn't actually find that. Have it again with DC3 (19 wks pg), but it's very mild so far, touch wood!

Going for a good walk always helped me, if it was caused by sitting for too long, and conversely, resting helped if I thought it had been brought on by too much exertion!

Hope it doesn't affect you too much.

Poor you - hope it doesn't develop to SPD like me. I suggest you massage your buttocks where it hurts (and get hubby to do it) and also apply heat (wheat bags or a hot water bottle) every now and then as it could be the buttock muscles tightening around your sciatic nerve. Also, I agree with what everyone else has said - get a referall to the physio - push your doctor if you have to, in some areas of the country they seem to be really useless at doing the referalls.

I'm almost 30 weeks with b/g twins and for the last 2-3 weeks I have been getting a lot of pain running from under my bump, down my groin and through my left leg. It almost stops me walking and it's very difficult to lift my legs. I don't have any problems sleeping - I'm too knackered for the pain to stop me falling asleep. But I have to walk really slowly and wear a bump band to give me some support when I'm out and about.

I didn't really know much about it until i discussed the symptoms with my midwife this week.

Thankfully I finish work tomorrow so I can start to take things easy but it's pretty painful at times.

Any tips or advice on relieving the symptoms would be really appreciated.

OMG I had this a couple of weeks ago so would have been about 8 weeks. I had no idea what it was and it hurt so much and woke me up every night for about a week. I was going to go to docs about it but it subsided, at least I know what it is now, thanks!
