20 weeks, tentative PUPPP diagnosis but I'm doubtful and a bit worried

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and have had a bit of what I thought was dermatitis on my face, esp around eyes, for weeks now. It doesn't itch. Last week I suddenly got a rash on my legs, first one and then the other (it spread and became much worse after I stupidly shaved them on Friday). It is madly itchy, and my legs are covered in red dots. It's not very like the problem around my eyes; but now my whole face in general has gone a bit blotchy and itchy. Legs def the worst bit, though, and driving me crackers.

Anyhoo, my GP yesterday admitted she had no real idea, but flicked through a book and then said it was "probably" PUPPP. She gave me cortisol cream, and told me to go back on Tuesday next week.

I've been looking online and it seems PUPPP is really unlikely as it is more common in first pregnancies (this is DC2), usually starts on the belly (no), usually starts around 34 weeks or later, and definitely never affects the face.

I'm wondering if it might be a little skin infection of some sort -- GP did mention that, but then appeared to dismiss the idea. Would you bother trying to get more advice, or just wait for a week until the next appt with same GP rolls around? Not sure what to do, or whether to keep using cream prescribed for something I probably haven't got.

Anyone have any experience of this?

i would go back to dr or see a mw.

I'd bother getting more advice - I had PUPPP in second pg, not first, but from 35w. I do know someone who had it earlier though. I didn't get it on the face (I thought it didn't affect face) but it drove me nuts as I had it all over except the face.

Could the thing on your face be something different?

You can take piriton (NON-DROWSY ONLY!) in pg, although I'd check with your GP. I think if you have any kind of rash you should have a proper MW check up.

Cheers. I have tried ringing the MWs, left a message ... will persevere until they get back to me.

CORRECTION! For some reason it occurred to me to come back to this thread - it's the DROWSY PIRITON you can take, not the stuff that doesn't make you drowsy. Sorry!
