16 weeks minimum with your first.

I really wouldn't recommend getting a doppler.......the heartbeat isn't always easy to find if you don't know where you're looking and it won't be as good as the ones the midwives use. In my opinion they can lead to a lot of unnecessary stress! Just my opinion though.......

Around 13 weeks with first( may have been able to hear before but that's when i bought it)about 10 weeks for number 2. Never had any trouble finding either of them.

I wouldn't do it either.

I agree, don't get one, it will only cause unnecessary worry, I have an anterior placenta (on the front) so even the midwives have trouble finding the heartbeat, you wont know placenta position probably until 20 weeks scan so I wouldn't worry yourself in the meantime, pregnancy is stressful enough.

GP found it at 13weeks. This is my first baby by the way. I don't have a doppler, my MW advised not to as it can cause unnecessary stress, though it'd probably be easier to find myself now at 18weeks.

I bought one at about 14 weeks, and never had a problem finding the heartbeat. I found it really reassuring in the earlier stages before I could feel the baby moving around. I listened to my own heartbeat first though, so I wouldn't confuse it with the baby's. You could even wait till you've heard it at the GP/hospital first, so you know what to listen for.
