What's having 3DC like ?

I have a ds1 (3.5 yrs) and dd1 (15 months) and now I am 6 weeks pregnant with another. I am 37 years old and feeling every bit of it. Morning sickness is killing me already, but I still have time to ponder about what will life be like with 3 ?

How do you give them everything they need, or does someone always lose out ?

DS is brilliant with DD and they play brilliantly together and are very affectionate towards eachother (which I am sure will change in due course !).

DS will be 4 and DD will be 2 when the next one arrives.

Just wondering about your experiences. DS will just start school as well as he is an August baby.

What a silly time for a condom to break !

We are happy, but nervous. Must get my tubes tied after this one as I am shattered already and it was bliss as DD and DS sleep so well once I weaned them at a year. Can't believe I am doing this again.

Chickbean, they turn into different little people every six months. Sometimes school is just what they need.

chickbean - my dses were just like you describe. Things improved enormously on the arrival of dd, as I said before. The boys get on better now - well I mean ds1 is better towards his younger brother. ds2 and dd get on famously and are inseparable, thus making ds1 feel like the "big brother" to both of them, which he likes.

Chickbean - ditto above comments ... mine were identical in age to yours when DD arrived and over about a year after her arrival, DS2 was able to talk well enough and play proper games. This meant DS1 started to play with him rather than just make his life miserable. Our household transformed and whilst they do now fight sometimes, they spend much more time playing together than fighting, and now DD is older she joins in too.

My dc are 4.4, 2.6 and 11weeks. I have found the last few weeks a bit of a rollercoaster, but I hope this is just a period of adjustment

The older two have just started to play really nicely together, having a new baby seems to have strengthened their bond, which is lovely to see.

I feel really positive about having 3 dcs, hard work, not much sleep, but definitely the right thing for me and my family!

Phew! Thanks everyone, I was starting to get really despondent.

I'm a mum of 3 - now all grown up. I was really lucky to be a SAHM till my youngest was at school, easing myself into work part-time with the support of family and friends. It was lovely and as they got older, our house was always full - we never seemed to just have 3, usually 3 and 2 or 3 friends each! As others have said, lower your standards, learn to ignore dust and enjoy every minute as it passes so quickly. Good luck!
