Has anyone else been finiding it difficult to find special occasion maternity wear for Christmas?

I've been trying to find a nice dress for a Christmas Ball and for New Years. Has anyone else been having these troubles or had any luck?

I have the Isabella Oliver Tie Knot dress in indigo for Christmas and NY etc. Have used it for several posh dinners and been very happy with it. It is not a ball gown though.

Possibly try mama a la mode or blossom mother and child. However, they tend to be quite expensive IMO.

Ooh, I happened to catch some of This Morning recently (I don't usually watch, honest!) and there was a makeover on a pregnant lady. The dress was fab, and came from this place www.doesmytumlookbiginthis.com/page1.htm They apparently have a hire section for occasion-wear.

I really like Isabella Oliver though and you may be able to grab a bargain from ebay (lets face it, we don't wear these items very often when pregnant so often the 'second hand' aspect of ebay is actually 'as-good-as-new')

If you're under 6 months pregnant going up a size or two in regular sized clothes often works.

I've done it for last year's xmas do (was about 25 weeks) and I know someone who did the same for a wedding at the same number of weeks (although she looked about 7 months pg because she had a big bump). I thought she looked beautiful

I would look at IO or empire style stuff in places like Monsoon

Isabella Oliver is very good for dressy things. A lot of their stuff is jersey wrap though so might not be quite glam enough for a ball (you lucky thing!) but they do have some very elegant evening dresses too. I agree, you could try ebay if you find it a tad pricey. I bought an IO wrap dress on there for half the retail price and it came in excellent condition. I guess people don't get that much wear out of dressy maternity clothes so they might only have worn them once or twice.

ASOS.com! x

Yes i did just happen to catch the maternity dress on this morning last friday and saw you could hire dresses from that website. I think it was £75 to rent, not sure for how long you get it, or £150 to buy and the dress was gorgeous. Not sure whether it would be better value to buy it or not, maybe alter it afterwards?

A couple of online places have a few bits, but i like to be able to see it instore before i buy. Don't know what anyone else thinks. Always worry when it gets delivered it won't fit right. I have looked at Mamas and Papas but they don't seem to have many dressy things. Has anyone been instore recently?

Seraphine also has some possibilities - see www.seraphine.com/maternity-fashion-online-shop/maternity-wear-by-occasion/elegant-maternity-wear/. They have two branches in Lonson.

ASOS have saved my life, and fashion sense during this pregnancy. I am quite young, have slightly quirky fashion sense, therefore not a fan of empire-line, classic, elegant dresses - although appreciate how lovely they look during pregancy on some people.
Have just had delivered an all in one jumpsuit thingy in black and coral, it's funky, different, modest, and I don't look like 10-ton Tess in it at 29 weeks pregnant, yayyyyyyyyy! Oh - and was half price in the sale! So happy!
