Stomach Flu at 26 weeks

Hi all,

I need some advice.

I have been up all night with diarrohea, nausea and stomach pain. I am now feeling a little better. The pain radiated from my stomach, down and round my uterus and took my breathe away. It was really bad and I was very upset. Do I need to speak to anyone? The baby is kicking fine, and I feel generally a bit battered and bruised. Also, what foods are good and gentle for tummy?

Thanks so much for reading.

Personally I'd ring your GP or midwife - more for reassurance really.

I had what the GP thinks was norovirus at 24 weeks in my last pregnancy. Have posted before. Rang the on-call GP who gave advice. However, you do need to at least discuss your symptoms with someone. That's what they are there for. And what other posters have experienced might be different and need different treatment. Only a medic or midwife can tell you properly. In the meantime make sure you don't get dehydrated (sip on clear fluids). That's more important in the very short term than eating.

If it is just a tummy bug, then rest assured, it will be OK. My little 'un is nearly two now and no ill effects.

thanks mahobbit. I have just rung GP, and they are ringing me back. I think your right, I just need reassurance. I'm so tired , I can't think straight. Will keep posting.

OK - be kind to yourself. If there's a MrSunshine (or a mum/sister/friend) nearby make sure you get treated like a princess.

For what it's worth my bump went bonkers when I had the sh*ts (?thought it was stranded on the M62 with passing traffic) but the next day seemed as tired as me. Still moved regularly but kind of in tired way. A nursing colleague said "No wonder, the poor beggar". That beig said if you are worried about changes in movement, again the thing to do is ring the midwife.

Hi,

I had a terrible stomach flu at 5 weeks this time and Im just over what I think was some sort of bug yesterday (im now 36 weeks).

I rememeber getting similar with DS and the midwife telling me we are more prone when PG but it rarley affects the baby unless dehydration gets out of hand.

My DS was fine and this one is trying to get out !

Thanks all. I spoke to the Doctor this afternoon and she was very reassuring. I am still having mad stomach cramps, like I have never had before. They kind of radiate out and down over the bump. Have upped the water intake and am finally weeing again. Baby moving like crazy. I'll see if she has a rest over the next few days.

I think I got much more tense than I would normally because of pregnancy. I was just so worried for baby and whether it might be contractions. Don't get much looking after when your a mum. DH just taken very grumpy DS to Doctors as he has chest issues. It never rains, it pours!

Thanks for your help.
