Traveling late in pregancy

I was wondering if anyone knows if France has any rules on you visiting for a short trip (long w/e city break) in the 3rd trimester?

Eurostar doesn't seem to be bothered at all if you're pregnant, but my DH wants to take me to Paris for a last-gasp babymoon when I'll be c. 32wks and I've not been able to find out if the French immigration will have any issues in letting me in! I've got a 'permission to travel' letter from my GP already for Xmas - is this enough for France as well?

Thx!

Don't think there are any rules at all like that... I am traveling in the EU until 34 weeks (don't want to but have to for work). Do take your maternity notes with you and your EHIC card and you might just want to check out where the nearest hospital is just in case (this was the advice I had from my midwife).

By the way, the EHIC will cover you for emergency treatment... but you might want to take out travel insurance too that would cover repatriation/the costs of you staying there etc. if the baby ended up in a SBC unit.

I rang around lots of the insurance companies... and it is important to check that the cover would be extended to your baby once it was born. I first took out a policy with the AA and had to cancel it. The most helpful (and who I finally ended up with) was insureandgo.com

Brilliant - thanks!
Now I just need to get around to organising my EHIC (been meaning to for ages) ...

Hi there - I am sure you can do it online (also sure I didn't pay for it) on one of the government sites and it just gets sent to you.

Make sure you book - you don't want to find there's no room at the Inn!

(sorry couldn't resist)

I went on Eurostar at 30 weeks for a long weekend. I don't think Eurostar have any rules. But it was knackering, so don't try to do too much.

oh and check with the airline - most will be fine with a 'permission to travel' up to 34wks though

I live in Belfast, heading to see a friend in Aberdeen when I'll be 33 weeks. A bit nervous about the journey and the chance of it being icy/snowy in Scotland, but it's the only week that DH and I can head over to see the friend.

Plan to take it easy though! Won't be doing much partying.

I think it's only flying that has restrictions - there aren't any restrictions on entering a country. But make sure you take your notes with you. We went to visit friends 300 miles away for a weekend at 33 weeks and I ended up having DS while notes and hospital bag were left at home. Rubbish!

I've double checked the EHIC details, and unfortunately as I'm a UK resident, but not a UK or EU citizen I need to apply by postal form. Not really sure why the difference, but there you go.

Am definitely planning on taking my antenatal notes (we're in Edinburgh for Xmas and was going to take them then as well ... Murphy's Law!), but taking a hospital bag as well is a good tip.

I have a feeling that I'll be doing more sitting in cafes and leisurely strolling than on previous w/es we've had away!
