Hi

I got a BFP today , used the clear blue digital test which said I am 3+ weeks gone.

This may be a silly question but I was wondering when do I need make an appointment to see my doctor?

Thanks in advance

i didn't bother, jsut went straight to the midwife. which confused her a bit, but it seemed silly to waste a doctor appt when all they do is tell you to see the midwife!

anyway, i went at around 8 weeks-ish to ensure i got a booking appt in time for my 12 week scan

I didnt either. Unless you think something isnt right.

I went straight to midwife at 10 weeks for booking in appointment.

Congratulations

I just phoned the midwife unit and arranged my booking appointment with them.

Congrats!
Didn't bother with doctor as they just tell you to see midwife.
The midwife here wont see you til you are 10 weeks.

Congratulations!

Not sure how it works in your area. Where I live you need to see the doctor so they can contact the midwives based at the hospital you choos to have your baby in (I live in London). I went really late with DS2 and therefore it was really hard for me to get noticed by the midwives and only saw the midwife at 16 weeks (odd because my scans were scheduled in)

I would check with Gp to be honest in case you miss the midwife radar.

i went straight to gp at 3 weeks and they contacted midwife etc, congrats x x x

Congratulations! I have a question on this. In the UK do they do blood and urine tests before the 12 week scan? I am in India and think I will just go for the 12 week scan and not see a doctor before then, but I'm wondering if there is any other reason to go earlier. I have a 19 month old son already but can't remember what happened then (pregnancy brain already..)

Congrats mabble! Welcome to the club!

I saw my doc straight away, who referred me on to the midwife.

Monsy - I had a midwife 'booking-in' appointment at around 10 weeks (this is in the SE London area) where they took samples. They also took some blood and weighed me at the 12-week scan.

winjy · 04/12/2009 10:48

congratualtions!! yeh i saw doc straight away too...xx

heth1980 · 04/12/2009 11:14

I saw my GP at about 6 weeks. We have to do that in my area cos the GP refers you to the midwife.

MumNWLondon · 04/12/2009 11:20

With my DS I didn't bother until 7-8 weeks and this was a big mistake as I didn't get a nuchal scan on the NHS as all the appointments were full during the relevant 3 week window, and I ended up paying for one privately. This time i went the day after my BFP.

They don't do anything before 10-12 weeks so unless a need to get booked in somewhere no any point.

JinglingJamieJayBells · 04/12/2009 13:11

With our surgery you've got to fill in a form to register with the midwife and they than write to you with a date for your booking in appointment (usually at 8 weeks at your home).

Went to the GP with my first pregnancy and he just said congrats and referred me to reception to fill in the form. Haven't bothered seeing him this time and probably won't unless I get any spotting / cramping (mc last time)

Congrats!!
