Were can I find a good warm coat for this winter? I'm 24 weeks pregnant and the one I'm using at the moment is not warm enough, specially since I'm going away to Germany in a weeks' time.

I too have the navy military style one from red herring at debenhams, its really warm and quite flattering. It was about £50 with the discounts that are always on at debenhams. My only criticism of it is that the buttons are heavy (being military style) and keep coming off! But then again I am forever sewing buttons back on stuff, why can't manufacturers stitch them on properly in the first place!!!

There's a really nice green one at jojo maman bebe. I've been getting lots of compliments for it and there's a matching skirt. Can look both casual and smart. It's also something I'll probably keep wearing when not pregnant.

My military style one from mothercare has arrived. It is lovely, very good quality for £60.

I can't wear the normal maternity coats, cos I have such narrow shoulders (only 5 foot you see) so I look like I have serious '80s shoulder pads!! Disaster!! Am trying to cope with large cardigan/wrap type thing, or my normal coats that cover my boobs (just) but leave my bump poking out!!

Definitley need a petite maternity coat in size 16...

Now if I was my granny I'd just run one up over the weekend out of a blanket or something. or perhaps not...

those options look great, but i live in scotland and I need a raincoat (regatta or similar) any choices there apart from buying one that would fit a huge man and is hideous? That is what I had before and really don't want to go down that road again!!!

I went for a wool coat from Uniqlo that's online here and have loved it so far - it's an A-line / swing style, and a size up from what I'd normally get. Which means the sleeves are a little on the long side, but given the design, it took until I was c. 24/25wks before I started looking obviously pregnant while wearing it.

I'm really hoping that I don't hate it (or grow out of it) by March ...

Just seen this thread and wish I'd seen it before I bought a maternity coat from M&Ps!

I bought this jersey one from M&Ps and it was a total waste of money. It was so shoddy that two buttons came off the first time I wore it out of the shop (to try it on at home). So I fixed them. And then the next time I wore it two more buttons came off...so I took it back!

I bought this non-maternity coat from New Look instead and am much happier with it

There is a serious gap in the market for maternity coats for women though - the ones I tried on in Jojomamanbebe, M&P, New Look and TopShop were mostly just horrible .

This is the one that I have. Tis very nice. Its the only maternity item I have that fits me properly, usually I wear petite clothes and find that things hang off the shoulders or are too long in the arms. This fits lovely and is very warm.

I can't believe I managed to do a link. A first for me!
