the insulin doesnt seem so bad but the clexane hurts like hell!..Im 18+2 and not enjoying injecting into my tummy..fortunately Ive still got a bit of spare tyre to play with at the mo!

Julezboo · 03/12/2009 19:55

ahh someone else!

How are you doing today?

My first few where alright but for the last 2/3 days ive been in tears! Once my belly got too hard I did it in my hips and thighs (which had become very flabby by then!

The arm hurts though! Never do it there!

Im lucky that my belly is still a bit flabby, but dreading it getting bigger..my consultant said I could actually inject into my bump

Julezboo · 04/12/2009 11:55

i was told the same. Bet that would hurt though!

Hi i am another one, have Factor 5 leiden too, 5 losses before this.
Am 19+5 and hating the injections, my belly is starting to get too hard but am not brave enough to move to legs yet, may get DH to do it in bum when the time comes, mind you cant imagine sitting on a bruised bottom!!!!!

memorylapse · 04/12/2009 12:56

shuddering at the thought of it in the bum

I dont have a clotting disorder that they are aware off but I will be tested after baby is born..I have had lots of DVTS and a PE after dd2 was born so they are not taking any chances

StrikeUpTheBand · 04/12/2009 13:00

I have gestational diabetes and do at least 4 injections a day (started at 11 weeks). It's a pain and I keep hitting nerves or causing myself to bleed or bruise or something, but I'm quite used to it now and 37 weeks so not long for me now...

But I really do sympathise, because I remember the clexane injections I had to do after each of my other pregnancies stung more going in.

StrikeUpTheBand · 04/12/2009 13:03

PS. I am so sorry to hear about you having so many losses. I lost my first baby at 24 weeks to preeclampsia. I wish you an uneventful pregnancy this time (in the nicest possible way).

StrikeUpTheBand · 04/12/2009 13:06

I use upper thighs by the way.

If you do a search on youtube I found a lot of very helpful people had posted tips and demos on there on ways of making it as painless as possible and good injection sites .

Julezboo · 04/12/2009 13:50

more people!

Strike - i use upper thighs once the flab has been taken over by baby. I took them right the way through with DS2 and 6 weeks after as well. I was so relieved when they finished!

I switched from Clexane to Fragmin (different doctors' preferences) and it made a HUGE difference. With Clexane it hurt and I had lots of bruises and swelling; with Fragmin just a little bruise on the injection site and practically no pain.

Maybe you can ask to switch to Fragmin?

MarioChristmas · 04/12/2009 14:00

When I had DS2 and DD I had to inject with Clexane and ended up with two lovely bruises on either side of my stomach. I have factor 5 thingamybob (it does have a scientific name but I cant remember what it is).

I feel your pain

Julezboo · 04/12/2009 14:28

Italophil - funny you should say that I will be picking up fragmin this afternoon. Hoping it makes a difference. x

I have Type 1 diabetes and inject a minimum of 4 times a day.
Before been pregnant I have never injected into my belly as it hurt too much and now I can't think of doing it into my lovely bump.

I do the injections in my thighs or arm, the plump bit just before the shoulder if it makes sense.

Good luck to you all.

memorylapse · 04/12/2009 17:49

fortunately I only have to inject insulin once before my evening meal..at the moment..although Ive been threatened with the dose going up

Julezboo · 04/12/2009 19:40

Fragmin is sooo much easier! Didn't even feel it going in
