Hi ladies,

Just wondered if you felt, erm, different? I don't know really, im 36 weeks with DD2 and had a planned section last time so don't know what it is like when labour starts naturally. Section booked again this time but for the last week or so i just have this feeling that i won't get to the date. When i wake in the morning it just pops into my head that DD will be early. I wake up in the night and it pops into my head! I keep having wierd moments where i feel nervous/extra emotional for a minute or so! Ive had a few braxton hicks but other than that there are no symptoms to suggest DD2 will come early. So why is it on my mind all the time?! Aarrghhh crazy pregnant woman rambling, i hope you can understand this! Thanks for reading!

I know how you feel, I'm 36+3 (due 27th) and am convinced baby will be early as DS was 11 days early. The only thing with DS was the night before my waters went I was wide awake, full of energy, even picked DP up from the pub when it closed! People do say you have a surge of energy just before but who knows, as they say no two labours are the same.
Best of luck x

Before I go into labour I get really quiet and withdrawn (and this is just before rather than the franticness of the last couple of weeks).

I don't talk much, feel very detached from everything and just want to be left alone.

Sounds like you might be nesting - which can go on for a long time before labour starts.

And I thought DC3 would be early... but she was 14 days late! Argh!

Thanks for replies! Oh my gosh i was just saying to DF last night that i have done so much these last two days, cleaned the house from top to bottom and today i have been so busy sorting out the last of the baby things and hand washed a load of stuff, sorting christmas presents etc not to mention running around with DD! I was just saying last night that i don't know where im getting this extra energy from especially when im only sleeping for around 3 hours a night!!

Anyone else want to share how they just before labour began?

I got very emotional and tearful in the few hours before it started, and didn't want to stray too far from home.

choosyfloosy · 02/12/2009 17:11

About 24 hours before labour started, I had a weird evening of heightened consciousness - colours seemed hyper-real, music was overwhelming, I heard church bells late at night and felt a sort of bliss.... twas great. I am very square but assumed it was a bit like being 'high' as the young people might refer to it [harrumph]

I felt extra happy but my friend commented my face was swollen and I looked weird ! Then my waters went that night (37 weeks). Id never have guessed it was coming though.

I thinkl you are worried because the CS is booked so unlike most heavily PG woman, you DON'T want labour to start.

Im terrified I go early again becuase I did with DS and he was small, didn't feed, had colic, reflux and was generally hard going.

I think becuase we don't want these things we are subconsciously homing in on them.

Or we are all just hormonally challanged!

I was in a really FOUL mood all day. I just did not feel right at all and had this sense that something was about to happen! It was so weird. DS was really quite and not moving much either which also made me worry slightly.

madmissy · 03/12/2009 14:52

just had a knowing feeling and felt rough actually lol bit like today

Carrotfly · 03/12/2009 14:55

The day before I just wanted some space so I went and sat in the local churchyard for a couple of hours. It was a lovely summers evening.

I just sat on a bench and thought about random stuff. No book, phone anything.

DH was a bit

madmissy · 03/12/2009 14:59

I subconsciously nested - defrosted the freezer, got a pedicure and a bikini wax and put dried fruit to soak for a tealoaf.

Thus thawed, polished and prepared to bake, I went into labour that night.
By the time I got home with dd the fruit had grown a fine pelt of furry mould...

Tillyscoutsmum · 03/12/2009 16:05

The night before my waters broke, I was in a restaurant with DH. We'd been having a lovely meal and I was feeling great and then I suddenly just felt really ....... niggly I suppose. Bit of a headache, very tired, really uncomfortable - just suddenly wanted to get home and go to bed.

I went to bed but hardly slept and was in a foul mood the next morning and really didn't feel like leaving the house or doing anything. I'd just finished emailing a few friends telling them how pissed off I was when my waters suddenly went. DD came about 18 hours later

I'm just over 38 weeks with my second and keep looking for signs but it won't work this time because I seem to have been "niggly" for the last 4 months (lots of bugs/viruses etc) . Maybe I'll get the energy burst instead. I could bloody do with it !

detoxdiva · 03/12/2009 16:16

I had the same odd period type ache down my right thigh with both my dc. Dd was born after having a sweep and the ache started at about 9pm, she was born 8 hours later.

With ds I had a weird shooting pain in my left boob the evening before I had him, and the same leg ache at 4am the following morning. Sadly no nesting with either of them....which explains why my house still looks a mess

maybebaby23 · 03/12/2009 18:35

MrsBadger, that is typical isn't it!!

Not long now tillyscoutsmum, you will have to come back and tell us if you do get any wierd feelings and labour starts after it!
