Cots - open or closed rails at ends?

Hi, I'm trying to decide which cot to buy - do you think it makes much difference to baby to have open rails on all four sides as opposed to a closed panel at top and bottom?

I have open rails all round and slightly wish that I had gone for closed ends as I have a storage thingy at the foot of the cot and my DD loves to grab at the things sitting on the top of it. Otherwise I don't think it makes much difference, unless there is a draught in the room in which case a closed panel might help to shelter the baby a bit.

I don't think it matters particularly, however we went for closed panels because the window ledge is near the head end of the cot and I didn't want it being used as a 'step' if DD puts her legs through the bars. However, I think the large expanse of white wood is screaming to be drawn on though

I guess it's nice for baby to see out when he wakes up rather than staring at a white wall. Although maybe bars all round feel a bit like a prison? Babies probably don't make that connection though...

Ours has closed ends but it is a Cotbed as opposed to a cot.Not sure if cots can have ends, but I think cotbeds always do for when they are converted to beds.
Not sure if that makes sense?!

I got closed ends for mine, becuase I really felt that the bars all around looked like little prisons.
