Just wondering who else has had this jab? After weeks of fighting to get it, the time has finally come.. now I feel a bit panicked by the whole thing. Have any of you had any problems?/bailed out at the last minute

I had the other type and when I saw all the pregnant women in the surgery waiting for the same I stopped panicking and realised it was all ok - and it's such a tiny little needle and tiny little amount - you'll be ok!

I had it a couple of weeks ago and had no side effects whatsoever. Not even a sore arm. Like you I was a bit nervous on the day but the relief of knowing that I had made the decision (and therefore don't need to debate it anymore!) and that I wouldn't need to worry about swine flu far out weighed any last minute nerves. I go back next week for the second dose. Good luck!

Had Celvapan 4 weeks ago - no side effects and baby all good it seems (kicking away in there). I am having the seasonal one in a couple of weeks too....

I bailed out of having pandemrix 2 weeks ago. Got into the doctors and just went "sorry can't actually do this". Felt like a complete moron but doctor was very nice and understanding about it.

Am actually having celvapan this afternoon too...to be honest I am so fed up with the worry of it all that at least by this evening I wont have to think about it anymore!

Chynah · 02/12/2009 18:40

Getting mine tomorrow after doctor tried to give me Pandermix last week by mistake!

GhoulsAreLoud · 02/12/2009 18:45

Just out of interest how did yuo all get celvapan rather than pandemrix? Did you just ask for it?

westlondongirl · 02/12/2009 18:51

asked local PCT

Chynah · 02/12/2009 22:25

I just asked for it and got booked into the clinic with the egg allergy sufferers! They did ask what my illness was to be in the priority group and when I said none just pregnant it wasn't questioned.

Josie22 · 03/12/2009 10:34

Elizbake - did you get it?

I had mine yesterday - no soreness or symptoms so far and baby kicking away. Just have to go for the second one now and all done!

I took the letter from the Department of Health that I found on a mn thread to my doctor's (who had refused to discuss any other option prior to the letter) and they booked me in to have it at another surgery.

elizbake · 04/12/2009 10:58

Yes, I got the jab two days ago, slightly sore arm and felt abit dizzy immediately afterwards, but think that was down to the fact I was feeling so stressed out beforehand..Anyway,feel much better now

Next dose on the 23rd...

Josie22 - can you (or anyone) post the link to that letter please? My surgery were going to let me have it until they found out I wasn't an egg allergy sufferer, and then they refused. I am preparing (and quite looking forward) to arguing with them

Beanigan · 04/12/2009 19:09

Just had my Celvapan jab. Asked at my local surgery and they had to give me a referral letter which said 'due to the obvious concerns with issuing Pandemrix to Pregnant ladies, I'm supporting my patient for a Celvapan vaccine'.

I got there and was with a load of egg allergy sufferers. The nurse looked up to heaven when I responded that I don't have any allergies, it's just my preference to have Celvapan but I hope her 'look' was due to the fact they booked me in with egg allergy sufferers rather than my concerns about Pandemrix.

Anyway, 2nd jab on 21st December. All is good with baby, kicking away. I have no anxiety about taking Celvapan at all.

sjbj · 04/12/2009 22:25

So relieved to find this thread. Just had my first dose this morning - no symptoms for me and plenty of baby movements. Can't get my second dose for 6 weeks so baby will be here by then! I went in a few weeks ago but refused pandemrix and after some phone calls they ordered celvapan for me.
It's so hard to make the decision when no staff will give definitive answers and are reading off a list they have obviously been given by government. oh well like you say at least the decission is made now!

Here's the link - to the link! I'm not sure I would have got the celvapan without the letter so it's definitely worth a try. However, I did have to get booked into a different surgery as my doctors is too small to get it. Good Luck!

I had to go to a central clinic too, although the nurse was very pleasant ( and very pregnant herself, she had the pandemrix a couple of weeks ago)she could not understand what all the fuss was about, and stressed that the 'p' jab was perfectly safe. Anyway, I just nodded politely. I was told by the PCT that I had to bring a referral from my doctor, but the receptionists were being a bit of a pain about it, telling me I had to make an appointment with my GP. I went back to the PCT who just put me on a list, I just turned up and they gave it to me purely because I was pregnant..

Hope you don't face too many more barriers
