Hi,

Sorry i did post this in swine flu topic but no-one replied

DD is poorly today with a temp, awful chesty cough and she has been sick too. I have no idea if it is swine flu or not but im almost 36 weeks pregnant and had the pandemrix vaccine a week ago today. Would i be protected at all or does it take a couple of weeks?

Thanks for reading..[due to have c section on 28th dec and dont fancy flu at this time...worried emoticon]

The swine flu vaccine should provide protection against the pandemic strain of swine flu for several years following vaccination. As well as offering protection against the serious effects of swine flu, it may also help to reduce the spread of the infection.

this is from the government website linked below.

My GP said it takes 2 weeks after the vaccine for you to be immune.

DS2's epilepsy nurse said 10-14 days post-jab.

MadameDuBain · 01/12/2009 18:44

I have read 8-12 days.

LongDroopyBoobyLady · 01/12/2009 18:46

I was told today by NHS Direct it takes up to 21 days post jab. Good to see the info is consistent!
