Just thinking what I need for the hospital bag and have a question regarding baby wipes. Can you use them on a newborn and if so, what is the best brand?

Huggies Pure wipes are great. We gave up on the cotton wool and water pretty quickly because the meconium was just too tough to shift! Huggies pure wipes are nice because they are the only thing around which doesn't feel like it's got moisturiser/any other added ingredients. I sometimes use them on my face too when i want to crawl into bed but can't face washing my face properly!! Will definitely not be bothering with cotton wool when DC 2 arrives...

Cotton wool and water for us... when on real food we use wipes on a poo but usually rinse off after.
I don't like all the chemicals, particularly on a newborn, no matter what lies are on the packet!

Oh wow, I have 3 DCs aged 13 to 6 and I have never been told not to use babywipes on any of them!
I used pretty much anything that was on offer (the major brands, found the cheapie ones to be rubbish) on them from birth and none of them had any problems....

I'm pregnant with DC4 and will be stocking up on wipes very soon! I always preferred J & J if I had to choose.

I am pregnant with DC1 (33 wks). I was stocking up on cotton wool and wipes the other day, and DH asked me: 'Can't you just hold the baby's bum under a running tap?'

Hmm... that might work if we had mixer taps! I think the baby might object!
