Turning a breech round

I'm sure this has probably been covered before. Just been told baby is heads up at 34 weeks. It had been head down prior to now, but I had a feeling it had moved. I've basically got 2.5 weeks to get back in the right place, before I get referred for all sorts of weird medical procedures to turn it.

Midwife suggested doing jigsaws - anyone else got any bright ideas to encourage it to turn??

I've been doing yoga for the last couple of weeks - I'm sure that's whats made it go the wrong way up, although I will continue with it.

Jigsaws???

Lots of friends have tried reflexology, success rate seems to be about 50%.

Hi Bigpreggybelly.

I'm 34 weeks pg too.

baby was head down at 28 week scan, then breech for following two mw appointments. I had a look at spinningbabies.com, then followed what they said on there, mainly:

-no slouching.
-try to keep knees lower than hips to tilt pelvis forward.
-on all fours a couple of times a day.

At my last mw appointment (last week), baby had turned! Woohoo!
The mw said "oh you must have felt it turn!", but I didn't. In fact, I posted a little while ago asking about the baby's potential position, as I could feel it hiccupping right below the bump.

So now let's hope it doesn't turn back to breech, and that yours sticks his/her bum up in the air!

Hi. Was breech at 38 weeks. Had private scan on Sat at 4pm which confirmed breech position and where the cord was. Had acupuncture(stuff burned at both wee toes for 10 minutes - painless) on Sunday at 11am and baby was head down at NHS scan on Monday afternoon. So glad as very nervous of c section. Good luck!

Actually I think I my friends may have tried acupuncture rather than reflexology.

heard but no confirmation that baby can be encouraged by holding something warm down low and something cold up high and it will turn to the warm end. Otherwise check out all the ideas on spinningbabies.com

think the jigsaws thing is to encourage you into an on all fours position .

Mine was footling breech till about 3 weeks ago (currently 34 weeks). My NCT teacher suggested putting my knees and lower legs on the sofa then leaning down to the floor (make sure your partner is around to help you get out of this position!) - the idea is to tilt the baby out of your pelvis a bit and give it the space to move. Also used a birthing ball (sitting on it and also kneeling next to it whilst leaning forward onto it with my boobs if you see what i mean). Also sleeping on your left hand side is supposed to help.

Acupuncture/moxabustion was also recommended to me but the baby turned (the night before the scan to confirm the breech presentation!)

Good luck!

Thanks everyone - how long do I have to hang my head off the sofa for? That spinning babies website suggested 20 mins at a time 3 times a day. Not sure if my brain can take that treatment, and I'll get some funny looks at work. If I turn the TV upside down, will I still be able to watch it?
