Sleep apnoea (stopping breathing in night)

Hi,
Am 30 weeks pregnant and for a while now I have been waking up with a jolt unable to breathe and have had to sit self upright in order to get oxygen into lungs. Before it was only sporadic and it was assumed it was because I had rolled onto my back in the night so I have the dream genii pillow to help stop that happening (because of the artery in the back baby can squidge reducing blood flow). But since yesterday it has got so much worse- I am definitely on my side when I wake myself up not breathing. I napped a lot yesterday daytime and woke up at least 4 or 5 times with this and then last night same again. It can't be good for the baby. Tonight I will try sleeping reclining rather than horizontally but I doubt I will get any sleep as I am someone who can only cope with one thin pillow as even just having a thick pillow means I can't sleep. Other suggested things seem to be try a humidifier in the bedroom and to raise the head of the bed with a couple of books.

Anyone else had experience of this? Am phoning the midwives tomorrow but obviously it being Sunday I guess there isn't much anyone can do since it isnt really an emergency thing is it?

I've had this a couple of times and I'm only 17 weeks pregnant. I actually put mine down to anxiety (like a panic attack). I hope your midwife can give you some useful information tomorrow.

when I spoke to midwife before she said it was from sleeping on back (as an artery can get squidged cutting off blood flow to baby) but now it is happening on my side too. I don't think mine is anxiety but mine did start at about 17weeks too so keep an eye on it schnitzel! Will let you know what midwife says!

Bah consultant had no clue and released me as had no symptoms (because erm it was daytime and I wasn't asleep). happened again last night and this was scariest yet- as took me a good few seconds to breath again (before I wake up just as I start breathing again) so guess am going to have to phone them up again. Boo hiss!

Seriously anyone else had anything like this? It's scaring me now!
