Would you risk going to see Paranormal Activity at 34 weeks??

If you want to go and see it, go and see it. Why is going to the cinema a 'risk'????!! how strange people are on here!

maybebaby23 · 27/11/2009 13:57

You didnt have to reply if you cant understand it emmaline

I was going to ask the same thing ive just been mithering DF to take me when he gets home from work, i can't wait to see it! Im 35 weeks and did wonder if its a good idea...but am going to watch it anyway!!

RollCorpseIntoHedge · 27/11/2009 13:58

I have heard that scary films can bring on labour but at term not early. A friend claims it worked for her.

It makes no sense biologically though because fear = adrenaline and adrenaline impedes labour. Think of the cave woman in early labour who can hear a sabre-toothed tiger outside the cave. Her labour is likely to stop until she thinks she is safe.

I have heard of women watching comedians going into labour and this makes far more sense as happiness and laughter = oxytocin and this hormone helps labour progress.

Just go and watch it if you want to watch it?? Being pregnant doesn't have to stop you doing things!! For goodness sake!

Poledra · 27/11/2009 14:00

I went to see the Return of the King when I was 8 mnths pg with DD1 - the noisy bits woke her up and made her jump

bigpreggybelly · 27/11/2009 14:01

maybebaby23 · 27/11/2009 14:08

So will you go see it bigpreggy? Eeeek i love a good scary film and this looks great! Mind you, we have to be getting up in the night with baby pretty soon and people are telling me that parts of this film are on their mind while up and about in the night!

girlsyearapart · 27/11/2009 14:08

Marking this because I want to go and see it and want a review please

frasersmummy · 27/11/2009 14:16

I'm with emmaline .. someone comes on asking if they can go the cinema when pregnant-and she answers of course you can and gets jumped on

She is right .. a film cannot possibly harm your unborn child

go and enjoy

emmalina888 · 27/11/2009 14:17

Thanks frasersmummy, at least there's at least one other sane person on here

maybebaby23 · 27/11/2009 14:25

she didnt answer of course you can did she, she commented on how strange people are on here no need! Why are you still watching the thead if you feel like that about it!

Dee2009 · 27/11/2009 14:29

I've totally gone off scary movies and used to be well into them, but getting up in the middle of night is not good!! I keep thinking i've seen or heard something, spooky!! Husband showed me the trailer for this film a few weeks back and i couldn't get to sleep for 4 hours!!

Have fun ladies hope you all sleep well tonight!!

maybebaby23 · 27/11/2009 14:33

Haha i was a bit freaked out by the trailer too but it made me want to see more! I know i'll regret it when im up in the night listening out for creaks and noises!!

flybynight · 27/11/2009 15:45

I shouldn't think it would kick off labour unless you were ready to go anyway. My husband brought home Alien for me to watch watch once when I was overdue. It was one of his less thoughtful moments. Sadly, it didn't start me off.

SoupDragon · 27/11/2009 15:48

I'm with emmalina

mumofkyle · 27/11/2009 16:14

Very funnily I was on the phone to my sister just now who is 34 weeks with twins and we were talking about how she had been given a leaflet at antenatel how to bring on labour. We talked about pineapple etc and then went on to sex where we both said we had heard it is better injested and she 'oooh' and her waters went all over the kitchen floor! So she is on her way to hospital - fingers crossed for a smooth delivery to her!!!

blushes · 27/11/2009 17:14

I will not be watching that film, pregnant or not! I was up the half the night, terrified, just from reading a review of it in the paper. It's on my "never watch" list.

crankytwanky · 28/11/2009 00:07

Emmalina really does have a good point!

I wouldn't see it just coz I need all the sleep I can get before popping another sprog!

Mumofkyle, please don't say you believe that prostaglandin works if swallowed.
