don't panic!! My friend had a one vessel cord spotted when carrying her second child and the advice she got at the time was that these things often go unnoticed (she already had a DD who probably also had only a single vessel cord) but that once seen they like to keep an eye on it 'just in case'

Talk to your midwife though, I am sure she can give you some comfort

I'm no expert, but didn't want to leave your post unanswered. I'm sure others will chime in with more helpful info. But according to babycentre.co.uk:
"If no abnormalities were seen during the scan, apart from the single umbilical artery, this should not cause any problems for you or your baby. Further scans in pregnancy may, however, be recommended to monitor your baby's growth".
I know it's hard but try not to worry; keep trying to get hold of your midwife, I'm sure she'll reassure/advise you further.

Am assuming she means single umbilical artery?

I've looked after 2 completely healthy babies who were diagnosed with this and apparently it's more common than people think because IIRC it's not a standard thing to look for on a scan and the only sure way to find out is by doing a cross section of the cord, which isn't at all routine.

The good news is that 50-60% of babies with it are absolutely normal and a further 15% or so are fine but smaller than average.

You will probably have another more detailed scan and probably growth scans in the last few weeks. That's what happened to both mothers I worked with.

There is a slightly increased risk of miscarriage so you should try to take things easy. I know telling you that stress makes things worse won't help but do try to relax!
