Anyone else got/had polyhydramnios?

Was diagnosed last week after labour scare at 30 weeks & wondered how anyone else had managed / coped?

My belly is like an overblown balloon that might explode any moment and combined with a very "lively uterus" that contracts every half hour anyway am feeling physically fragile & horribly anxious about getting little one to stay put for at least another 4 or 5 weeks.

Anyone else suffering?

HI Alicemama
Not the same but I had Oligohydramnios (total opposite of you, not enough amniotic fluid) my son (who was breech anyway) ended up being born 3 weeks early as they scanned me one morning at 37 weeks and realised that I'd pretty much run out of fluid which contributed to the reason as to why he'd never turned into the correct position. Anyway, it all ended fine, he was born by c section (hours after that scan, it was all very rushed!) and weighed in at a healthy 7.4 pounds. Apparently they are both fairly common, so try not to worry and if you end up delivering early it's not the end of the world, you are past 28 weeks and thats the most important thing - good luck x

Sort of - I'm carrying twins and for the last 5 weeks one has had oligo and one poly... we've actually been more concerned about the one with less (although much more equalised this morning).

Have they suggested frequent scanning? I'm now on weekly scans (thought they may even get them out today, 32 wks, but all stabilised again). Every week really counts at this stage so it's good that you are 31+, just take it week by week.

I too have found the contractions a bit of a nightmare - but am getting used to them now. Have also found that I seem to get a few days break from them which helps - but 'lively' uterus is a perfect description.

Try not to worry - I know easier said than done - but even if baby is born now they should be absolutely fine.
