Flying in first trimester?

DH is taking me to Paris next week, when I will be 8 weeks.

I'll be ok to fly, won't I? I can't remember from last time! It's only at the end you're not advised to fly, isn't it?

Hi - I read something the other evening in a baby book by Mirriam Stoppard that said it was ok to fly right up til your 7th month. 8 weeks is way early. I flew to Paris in my first trimester with no ill effects. Enjoy your trip.

Is it ok going through the security scanner things? Can you request to be done with a wand instead?

I did many European flight and 1 long distance in 1st and 2nd tri. You can fly up to 32-34 weeks I think.

In Germany, they are very good about not letting you walk through the scanner and give you a manual search. When I requested a manual search at Manchester, the security woman was a total b about it. I don't know if they are ignorant about it here but other countries seemed much more sensitive.

Flew to NY at 8 weeks (back at 10) no problem at all.

It's absolutley fine - flying and security thingies. You would have to fly literally hundreds and hundreds of times before any harm woulod be done

Flew long-haul (13 hours each way) at the end of the first trimester - I was 11 weeks when I went out, 14 weeks when I came home. The practice nurse we saw about jabs didn't seem particularly worried. Just told me to make sure I exercised at regular intervals, and to wear compression socks (lovely!).
