Moisturisers & cleansers for face which are pregnancy friendly?

Hi everyone

Was wondering if anyone had come across any good facial moisturisers/cleansers or skincare brands that are ok to use when pregnant?

I have been looking for something without parabens but have discovered that this usually means organic (but then organic stuff also has a whole lot of essential oils etc which may not be safe). I have dry skin which tends to break out a bit at the moment.

Thanks

A very simple cream is aqueous (sp)cream. Can be used to cleanse and mositurise. Would need to check parabens etc

Avoid anything containing retinol or retinoic acid.

I've been using Waitrose's Baby Bottom Butter as a night cream since I've been pregnant, and my skin has never felt softer. It's only a couple of quid and has about three or four (natural) ingredients.

For a cleanser, I would recommend Lush's Ultrabland.

castille soap and rosehip oil (which is also great for stretchmarks btw)

I just use my usual stuff

oh yes! i had forgotten about waitrose baby bottom butter!

works very well as a cleanser too if you use the famed eve Lom cleanser method.

Thanks everyone.

Mamalazarou, I love the name of that cream! Sounds sort of edible ... sort of... (?!)

I should have added that I need a cleanser which is strong enough to remove makeup.

Where do you get rosehip oil slim?

And what is this famed cleansing method??

When I last looked, Lush do use parabens. I don't think they are actually a major worry, certainly not as much as certain essential oils in pg.

I've switched from my usual Origins stuff which is more scented and active, to Simple toner, moisturizer, shower gel and cleanser - not expensive and are suiting my dry pg skin well at the moment.

the cleanse:

you need a very thin flannel

  1. warm the butter in your (clean) hands and pat on face using little suction movements to sort of lift of dirt.

  2. soak the flannel in HOT water and gently apply on face for 5 seconds then gently rub off the cream.

  3. rinse flannel and repeat

  4. splash face with fresh water to tighten pores.

very easy.
Unless you have very dehydrated skin, you should not even need a moisturizer at night.

Rosehip oil in all health stores and most pharmacies i think

Re the parabens, I use a lot of makeup almost every day and my makeup is full of them. As good paraben-free foundation etc doesn't seem to exist, I figure I'm better off at least trying to stick to paraben-free moisturiser/cleanser/sunscreen, if that makes sense?

Thank you very much Slim. Off to find this butter & a thin flannel! Will also hunt for rosehip oil if you promise it's not going to make me break out! Will also check on the aqueous cream. Thanks everyone.
