Underwired bras - yes/no?

Is it true that you should avoid wearing underwired bras during pregnancy (something to do with milk ducts??) - I'm quite large and my boobs look a bit tragic without proper support. Or is this something I only need to worry about much later on (when my posh bras might not fit me any more in any case...)

lol at the doreen posts . She came to stay very early on in my pg too and I was very glad to see the back of her when dd arrived.

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall in that marketing meeting, "Now, this one, gentlemen, is the Doreen ... I think that says it all." What were they thinking??!

Next time, I think I'll stick to underwires if I can and avoid the 'strange saggy pyramid' effect!

Ragtaggle - I wore underwired for most of my pregnancy too - I just made sure to keep on going back and getting re-fitted. I think I ended up a 34D - but it might have been 36D (from a normal 32/34 B/C).

On the advice of my Mum I DID wear a bra at night towards the end of the pregnancy, plus while I was breast feeding. I've inherited her good boobs, which she had kept even after having two kids (and breast feeding them) - so if it worked for her.....! I used my b/f bras, but later I used "soft bras" - more like stretchy sports tops, which were comfier for sleeping in.

I took the view that my boobs were not "used" to carrying the extra weight (even lying down!), so all extra support was going to be beneficial and help stop gravity doing its work.

Even if I say so myself, my boobs are still in good shape, after feeding ds for 13 months, although it did take quite a while after stopping b/f for the "firmness" to come back.

I'm wearing Bravado ones at night while b/feeding simply because it gets uncomfortable otherwise.

Feel a certain urge to check out Doreen, simply out of curiosity!

I blinking hope mine go back down soon . Am normally a 32 dd or E and am currnetly bf and am a 34g. Fel like they eneter a room before me. Please please let them go down. I look like les dawson.

Finally took a look at Doreen and guess what? They don't make 'em big enough!! How sad is that?

Switch between the Royce nursing bra (even though I'm not) and the Bravado at night now. After a very disappointing hour in John Lewis will definitely be sticking to my underwired bras during the day, nothing else gives even the remotest hint of support....

Just read this and was surprised at how many of us have larger busts! (as always, i thought i was the only one)glad to hear that a lot of you are fond of underwiring as i had read that it was a no-no too and i cant live without mine! When i was pg first time i was 7 1/2 stone and they went up from a 32D - 32F. This time i was 9 1/2 stone and 32F so i dont think i want to even imagine what they're going to be like in a few months time! ive tried other bras but to be honest, if i dont have an underwire my boobs hurt! (Does anyone else get that?) Someone at work even sugested that i'd had a boob job the other day!! (They wouldnt have said that if they had seen my boobs in their bra-less position - tucked under my belt!)
