If you're pregnant and had the swine flu jab, what were your side effects?

I've been reading several articles about the side effects:

here

here

here

and here

Admittedly some of these may be scare-mongering and some of the women were probably going to miscarry anyway but I would like to hear any stories from women who have had the jab and had a healthy baby so that I feel better.

I had the vaccine at 22 weeks, had a very sore arm for 2-3 days, was otherwise well.
I am now only 24 weeks, but bubs seems to be as lively as before.
Cannot tell you before March what the ultimate outcome is going to be .

My understanding is that as for ethical reasons there were no studies done on pregnant women, all the data we have is on women who were pregnant when they were vaccinated but did not know yet, ie v v early pregnancy. When you bear in mind that there are estimates that 23-30% of fertilised eggs/early pregnancies don't make it, the numbers become a lot less scarey in connection with the vaccine.

as none of your links are to reputable medical research Ive not read any of them as there is no point.

I had my Pandemrix jab at almost 38 weeks. I'll be 42 weeks this week, baby is being induced on monday.

My side effects were mild, sore arm, aching, pains and headache, lasted 48 hours.

As there are pg women currently ill in ITU here, and my hospital where I work and where I will deliver is the one in the news for the first mutated strain of H1N1 resistant to Tamiflu, Im glad I protected myself and my baby.
I will have the dc's vaccinated as soon as I can.
The risk of swine flu is far greater than the risk posed by the vaccine IMHO.

HTH

I had my jab on thursday and now so relieved I've done it and it's all over. My side effects were a pretty sore arm which is slowly going away and that's about it. A friend of mine got an email from her doc saying she'd have a sore arm and get the flu which would mean she would have a pretty miserable weekend, well I had mine on thursday and I feel fine! Also very reassuringly my little bean has been kicking away and it's all such a relief to have it done and dusted (and I'm 17 weeks pregnant)

dizzymac · 21/11/2009 20:02

I had mine yesterday at 12 weeks. I was concerned about side effects but all I've had is a sore arm , which although painful is not stopping me doing anything.
I'm a little concerned about the baby but as I'm asthmatic and a teacher who is constantly being coughed and sneezed on I felt I ought to be safe and have the jab.

cloudydaze · 21/11/2009 20:11

I also had Pandemrix jab yesterday, I'm 20 wks, and so far apart from a sore arm I'm feeling fine. Also been feeling the baby kicking loads. After much deliberation (& discussion with various doctors) about having it or not am pleased to have made the decision & had it done.

bigpreggybelly · 21/11/2009 20:19

Had Pandremix a week ago. Sore arm for about 3 weeks. Baby is as lively as ever and kicking like mad. I'm 33 weeks. I have no doubts that having it is the best thing and I'm no longer paranoid about getting SF (espcially as I'm still commuting) and completely confident that it won't have harmed the baby.

PanicMode · 21/11/2009 20:22

I haven't read your links as I've already made my decision after reading extensively and don't think that reading any more scaremongering is helpful.

I had it on Friday (and asked the same question about after effects this morning ) and I have a very very sore arm and felt very flu-ey yesterday but today just feel tired, but still with a very sore arm.

For me, with 3 DCs to worry about, and pregnant with number four, the benefits far outweighed the (small) risks.

I'm 17 weeks and feeling the baby move as much as I was before the jab....obviously can't comment on the final outcome until April/May.

LastTrainToNowhere · 21/11/2009 20:27

I had Pandremix last week at 15 weeks. Only side-effect was a very very sore arm for 3 days, and localised reddening for about 4-5 days. No other symptoms.

I'm glad it's done and out of the way. There are 2 pregnant women in my local hospital suffering terribly from swine flu (my neighbour works there, so the source is reputable) and I truly believe any risks posed by the vaccine is less than the risks posed by catching swine flu.

BellasYummyMummy · 21/11/2009 20:34

i had the jab a week and a half ago (am 25 weeks now), Arm was very sore for about 3 days (like everyone else on here!) but apart from that nothing at all. Baby still happy and kicking away., and we had a scan the 2 days ago and we could see he/she was doing very well.

saltyseadog · 21/11/2009 20:37

I had Pandemrix on Monday night - only side effects were a very sore, stiff arm and six hours of flueyness (flu-like symptoms started 24 hours after jab).

Plenty of movement - in fact I had a scan (for something comepletely unrelated) on Thursday and everything looked fine. Baby was very wriggly on scan. HTH.

Hi,
I had Pandemrix yesterday morning, felt absolutely fine all day afterwards, but then this morning woke up feeling sick and generally unwell.... starting to feel better now though so unwell feeling lasted just over 12 hours. My arm doesnt hurt that much at all, I had it in my right arm and made sure my muscle was as relaxed as possible when being injected so maybe that helped!?!
Hoping I've now made the right decision about having pandemrix... was humming and ahhing about that and Celvapan but as I'm due to give birth in 4 weeks thought I'd better do the fastest route so I didnt worry about catching anything when in hospital.

littleomar · 22/11/2009 08:24

@ articles with exclamation marks in the title and i feel so sorry for the women writing on there who believe their miscarriages were their fault.

i could barely get out of bed the next day and my arm hurt. that is all.

mistletoekisses · 22/11/2009 08:38

as others have said, had a quick look at links and none have any reputable medical links with them; therefore have not read them.

I had the jab well over 3 weeks ago. Only symptom was a sore arm for 3 days. Nothing else. Baby moving just as much as normal.

Thanks everyone! You've help put my mind at ease quite a bit
