Hmmmm I have been indoor go-karting (before pregnancy) and the cars gave off a lot of fumes. Also, my upper body ached afterwards because of the control you exert when going around sharp corners. If it was me, I wouldn't go if I was pregnant.

hmm now im not sure?

Personally I would go. It will make absolutely no difference either way as to whether your pregnancy is viable or not.

I'm not sure I agree with that. having had quite a horrible accident while karting (hit a door, spun off it and then whacked a wall, I'm glad i wasn't preggers into the bargain at the time. My advice would be to go (fun day out with family/friends even if you don't actually get in a kart) but play it by ear and if it looks too dangerous, just don't go in the karts. If you do, don't become competitive mum (congrats!!) and take unnecessary risks. Good luck!!

benjysmum I'm a sporty woman as my name would suggest so I've spoken to a sports doctor about stuff like this. He basically said that in the first trimester unless your uterus is pierced you are at absolutely no risk. She's 5 weeks, not 8 months¬

Your accident doesn't sound particularly hardcore to me. Will you be suggesting OP doesn't get in a car/bus/train also?

benjysmum · 21/11/2009 04:24

Being in the Armed Forces, I would suggest that I am probably also a "sporty woman" although I certainly haven't spoken to a "sports" doctor about this particular issue.

My advice was to go to the centre and weigh the risks when she got there. I don't think that's bad advice.

Am I not allowed to disagree with anyone? I thought this was an open discussion, not one where someone was right and another necessarily wrong? My mistake.

Anyway, going to bed now as DS has finally slept. Good luck with whatever you decide too do shinyred.
