Im one of those anti vaccine freaks we all love to hate !
Ive decided after alot of deliberation that, for me, the jab would give me more worries than SF itself. (albeit there's not much in it)!
Only point taking it if it WILL give you peace of mind.
Still though, very very worried about swine Flu also.
Im due Jan 6th and keep thinking about all the family and friends who have xmas parties and new year parties - may as well rename them SF parties!
Then they will flock round on xmas day and after New Year to see the baby. My head is spinning thinking about it.
I also have an energetic 2 yr old DS who goes a little potty if we stay in.
My mind set is needing the reassurance that we will not all die from swine flu!
If there are any PG girlies out there, in third trimester who have had it, come and tell us you lived to tell the tale!

I'm only 1st trimester but my colleague has just brought her 6 week old son in and they both appear to be still alive despite no SF jab (I asked).

I haven't had SF and I won't be having the vaccine. I've never had the normal flu, let alone SF. I don't come into contact with many children. I drive to work.

Unless someone in my office gets it, I'm leaving things as they are.

I'm due 2nd Jan so very close to you and I'm not having it either for the reasons you describe. Let's hope we're ok (well for scaremongerers and conspiracy theorists) x Not had it and hoping not to get it but I did some illness when preg with DS now 2 and all worked out ok

I think I'm a no too. I have to be honest though, no matter what decision you make it is still going to be fraught with anxiety. I have a consultant appointment next Thursday where I intend to discuss it, but at the moment, I'm thinking not.

Of course they have!

This is such an emotive debate and I don't really want to get into the pros and cons again but when I was discussing this with my midwife she said that if I had an underlying medical condition she would recommend the jab otherwise she wasn't so keen. I don't know how true this is but she said that all the serious cases of sf in pregnant women were women who had underlying medical conditions, in most cases asthma or diabetes.

I am the same. Very anti vaccine and due 16th Jan. It is starting to pray on my mind a little but I am trying ot make sure I'm eating well and looking after myself so if it does come our way I'm best able to deal with it. I also have a todler who starts pre-school in Jan and I'm a little worried about what she might be coming home with and spreading around the rest of us. I guess thats parenting! Will always be something to worry about.
