Ha haaa ha ha haaaaaaa ha ha ha

Sorry girls but your all soooooo funny!!

Let me put you into the picture. Im a prude. Im the sort of person who goes into the gym changing rooms and can undress and dress without removing my towel.
I also loathe bikinni waxes, there just so, ahem, intimate!

Now birth, thats very very different.....
when your go into labour there are these magic hormones that say pleeeeeeeese let me and the baby be alright, along with pleeeeese tell me im 10cm dilated.
Also followed by, why is it 100% in here im going to kill someone.
When I started to bleed and they decided on c-section a team of consultants, students and various other people came crashing into my room to look at the bleeding......
I was MORE then happy for all 12 of them to stare at my vag in the hope they's come up with a plan that was quick.
You's show the hospital porter your front bum if you thought he'd be helpful!!!
Buy your nighties, get your all in one suits if it makes you feel better !

Hey MrsMc82,

Im just like you, dont want to be naked either when I give birth. Been desparately trying to find a night that has a button up top so can expose when bub is born!

Im also hoping to have my little girl at the Birthing centre to which is just a short drive away. A lot nice and more private evironment than a big hospital. That can only happen if I have no complications when I go into labour.

They did say that they dont do any drugs except gas and air but that doesnt worry me as I want as natural as poss even though I know its going to bloody hurt!!! will be worth it though.

Hi Whensmydayoff!!! your funny
You made me laugh loads. Im a big big prude to who absolutely hates her boobs and having to get her bits out.

I havent heard the expression VAG since I spoke to my sister last and that was a v long time ago as we argue constantly!

You are probably very right in what you say but no matter how bad I get I aint having more than necessary stare at my VAG as you put it and definately no male nurses or porters!!!
Been in for op's before and everytime I get a male orderly or nurse I kindly request through them to get a female and send them on their merry way. They probably have a good laugh and stare at me naked when im out for the count but I dont know about it so WHATEVER!
You have made my day with that though. Dont do the bikini thing either my dear!

I had an old nighty on - never got as far as the labour suite so it wasn't a problem - DS was almost out before the MWs came (DH had to fetch them). The blood came out with a good soaking but it wouldn't have mattered if it didn't, I would have just thrown it out. They did get me to change into a hospital gown afterwards though, as the nighty was so messy.

This thread has made me smile MrsMc82 don't panic at this next bit as DS1 wasn't born in England. I had to have an emergency c-section with DS1 & when they decided to send me down to theatre they stripped me completely. I was then pushed down one of the hospital corridors completely starkers by a hospital porter who looked like Lurch! Who, I hasten to add, was whistling merrily to himself all the while.

When I relayed this story to people back in England they couldn't believe it and told me that that would never have happened in an English maternity hospital. As he was my first I didn't give a monkey's. I was too concerned about whether he was going to be alright. Thankfully everything turned out fine & things have progressed in the maternity hospital here. DS2 was born naturally & I wore my button up nightie throughout

Congrats and good luck

With DD1 I consulted MN and off I went to Primark for a cheap "giving birth nightie" with button up front for BFing. In the end DD1 was born so fast I didn't even have time to open my very meticulously packed labour bag, complete with Rescue Remedy, CDs, face flannels and cooling face spray.

I pulled my jeans and pants off and lay on the bed and delivered, I had a rather nice DKNY t-shirt on and it didn't get a drop of blood on it.

DD2 and 3 were both homebirths so felt a lot more comfortable, I remember with DD2 running upstairs between contractions and stipping naked and shouting to MW to examine me quick.

sweetkitty I could have written your first paragraph! I bought a cheap button up nightie from Primark which remained in my labour bag, together with special music and my face spray ( which I would have liked actually)...I gave birth fairly fast, totally naked, which was great in the end.

Said nightie is now going in the attic for possible future births...

I ended up being naked both times, although I hadn't planned to me, although it bothered me thinking about it in advance... DS was born in birthing pool and seemed unnecessary to wear clothes, although in early part of labour left on t-shirt and bra. Got rid of knickers and pj trousers when water broke totally soaking them and with DD took clothes off to get into bath and never bothered putting them on afterwards. Both times just me and DH and 2 midwifes.

Midwife will not make you get naked
