Does anyone know if these are routinely taken during pregnancy?

I have been wondering whether to ask the GP for TFTs as I am always tired and am struggling to lose weight.

However I will look rather stupid if these tests have already been done on me in the last few years and found to be normal.

Would be very grateful to anyone who knows the answer!

Not routine. Need to ask. Even if they had been taken years ago they could be abnormal now.

Thanks very much - I knew someone would have the answer.

I became underactive when DS was about 7 months, post-pregnancy is fairly common I believe. And like wobbly is saying, the result could be different from one month to the next. Dont't let GP say "of course you're tired, you have a 13 month old child!" or similar. Get the test done.

No harm in asking the GP but are you really trying to lose weight whilst pregnant?? Worth getting them after the birth though.

I have an underactive thyroid and have been on thyroxine since I was 16. I have to get blood tests at the hospital every 6 weeks to monitor my thyroid levels as the level of thyroxine you produce when pregnant can fluctuate. Worth getting checked because if your thyroid is underactive and left untreated it will continue to make you feel terrible . . last thing you need when pregnant!! Good luck!
