I've been taking 10mg but it's not doing anything. I've seen websites that say 100. HAve I got this badly wrong (hopeful emoticon)?

I took 50mgs. It helped my horrible pg acne too. Even now, I take some to stave off PM skin issues. Doc told me to go up to 100 if the 50 wasn't having much effect. I found I had to take it in the morning or I couldn't relax very well at night.

Thanks.

So you took it all at once? I have nausea all day and was also wondering about taking it through the day.

I took it in the morning. Never thought of taking it throughout the day -- I too had the nausea all day on and off, plus feeling really sluggish and 'down'. I chewed a lot of crystallised ginger too, and drank ginger and lemon tea, on the recommendation of a friend.

Thanks for the tip about the tea. I did try it before but it made me feel really ill!

It was hard to find anything that alleviated the nausea etc., for any length of time. Ginger helped a bit for me, but other friends suggested mint or chamomile teas and the effect seemed to be the reverse of what I had hoped for. Woke up one morning at about 4.5 months and it was all over, though.

Wow, I've never seen vitamin B6 discussed on a uK forum - I saw it mentioned on some in the states but my GP knew nothing about it.

Were you prescribed it? Maybe I'll consider another baby if it works!

LaTrucha · 15/11/2009 17:55

My GP didn't prescribe it but I asked her to research it and she said to try it. The website she consulted I THINK said 10mg, but I may be misremembering because I haven't found any that says so little.

Twas a doctor in the US who told me to get some. No need for a prescription, just got it otc. I had resigned myself to the nausea, but the pregnancy acne was really bothering me. I looked like a pg 15 year old. The doctor said it might help both skin and nausea, and he was right.

It was my ex-pat Auntie who used to be a midwife who put me on to it. She worked in the States.

Thankyou...I think they have a combo of it and phenergan, called Unisom which loads of pg women take and say works.

I'll definitely try it if there is a next time.

mathanxiety · 15/11/2009 18:27

They gave me a shot of phenergan when I got extremely nauseous during two deliveries and it worked immediately. Don't know the dosage.

It's promethazine isn't it I think. Good stuff

LaTrucha · 15/11/2009 18:40

So, I guess I can go ahead with more?

I'd say go for it.

LaTrucha · 15/11/2009 20:16

Thansk for your help. I've been looking and looking and I can't find anywhere that says 10mg so I think I'll go up to 50 and see how it goes.
