I'm 33 weeks pregnant with DC2 - have at least 6 weeks to go till my ELCS and I have terrible heartburn!

Not just laying down trying to sleep heartburn either. That I was expecting and could cope with. This is heartburn that I get while sat upright on the sofa watching TV too!!

I'm living with it for now and swigging Gaviscon from the bottle (having given up on spoons) at bedtime to try and get some sleep between achey hips and needing to pee but it's driving me crazy and making me miserable.

Obviously, I'd rather not be taking too much Gaviscon or any other medicine while pregnant so while I don't mind at bedtime, I don't want to be taking it all day too but I need to do something!

Does anyone have any tips or natural remedies for heartburn that I could use till this baby drops and quits using my stomach as a football?

Please!!

I know you said you didn't want to take meds if possible but if your heartburn is that bad then omeprazole can help. I'm on this as I have a reflux and so was botherd with bad heartburn before I was pregnant. Perfectly safe in pregnancy as I checked before we started TTC.

Had a glass of milk and my usual swig of Gavsicon last night and managed to sleep through till about 2!!

Yey!! Feeling much more rested today

Deviating from the vertical can set my heartburn off- difficult, as I'm fixing up my houseboat, and spending a lot of time upside down in the back of lockers....

I agree with the bread thing, too- especially in the evenings.

I'm drinking shedloads of peppermint tea, and also Trebor Extra Strong Mints- they work really well for about 5 minutes!

For me ASDAs own antacid tablets work an absolute treat, far better than Gaviscon but they're not on prescription...only something like £1.50 for four tubes though, and taste like sweets

Bought some Gaviscon Advance expecting it to be better and ended up being woken by heartburn in the middle of the night and having to take some more!!

Have no ASDA nearby unfortuneately.

Marshmallows not working either - but they were yummy

Milk good. Got some Yakult but still need to try it...
