Thought I would have a little moan! I am 30 + 5 and live in Dorset, it has to have been almost 30 degrees today! It is hard work being pregnant in this heat and difficult not being able to wear short skirts/shorts and little vest tops!

Anyone else feeling the same?

champs - I know how you feel.

I'm trying to make myself look decent - but I look a swollen frazzeled damp mess. I see trendy young girls looking at me with a look of pity!

It will all be worth it - and we will be gourgeous by Christmas ~(ish)!

Redhelen -- we can only hope!!
not too bad today, temp must be lower than yesturday. May even brave the shops!!

18mumtobe · 21/06/2005 13:50

i can't really say i feel the same as im not pg anymore, but i can just imagine how awful it must be. when i was pg i was always so hot even when it was frezzing outside so in this heat i don't think i would have survived. i had my ds 2 weks ago and still get hot and bothered now and get hot flushes, its horible.

well i hope you feel better and find away to try and stay cool soon.

take care xxx

MistressMary · 21/06/2005 13:55

Aww I can relate to you.

I was pregnant in 2003 when we had 100 degrees. And I was still working too. Horrible.

Quick tip for night times...

Fill a hot water bottle with COLD water and put on your legs. Bliss. Keeps you cooler at night.

champs · 21/06/2005 16:11

MistressMary -- was pg then too.... nightmare!! ty for tip will try tonight.

MistressMary · 21/06/2005 19:03

Good luck.

woohoo42 · 21/06/2005 21:04

Me too mostress mary! I can't believe how badly I've planned this, I can't cope with heat when not pg! Cleverly managed to get heat stroke on sunday, despite going outside for only a couple of hours late in the day, so have been having pukes and runs to go with braxton hicks and spd. Roll on July!

well everyone, come up to scotland.

kasef · 21/06/2005 22:48

i'm 38 wks and like all of you feeling rather rubbish and hot, tbh appart from a little light hoovering and some pot washing i've been sat in garden with my feet in the paddling pool, ( which i put out for the kids ) as far as i'm concerned unless something needs doing urgently i'm leaving it.

bossykate · 21/06/2005 23:11

i have 2 july babies - summer pgs are the pits! as well as the misery of pg in the heat, by the time your post natal 6 wks are up, it's practically autumn and you spend a lot of your mat leave in autumn/winter. i think march would be the best time to give birth.

hester · 21/06/2005 23:12

I'm 23 weeks and hating the heat. There is nothing quite like dragging yourself to work and back on the tube in sub-furnace temperatures, with swollen ankles and backache, to make you a boiling cauldron of hormonal rage

jessicasmummy · 22/06/2005 14:59

im a grumpy mummy too - cant stand it today! Made the mistake of walking to toddlers!

champs · 22/06/2005 18:19

awwww. nvm hun we can be grumpy together

Redhelen · 22/06/2005 18:25

It's very hot - it does make us feel doopey and grumpy. I got very annoyed with two men in Tescos today - stating what lovely weather were having! I heard it should rain for the weekend horray! Hope it dosn't try to come back!
Has anyone tried an air conditioning unit- I did lovely and cool but sounds like a jet engine!! - Any one found a quite one??

Take care Helen

champs · 22/06/2005 20:07

hi helen I have an air cooler. sounds like a fan

Nat777 · 22/06/2005 21:47

I cant believe how miserable and irritable I have become! I am flying off the handle at everything, but only at home! I seem to be fine at work, even though my job is stressful. My poor boyfriend, I am taking everything out on him!

I hope I am not like this forever!

Champs

Thanks - an air cooler sounds interesting - what size is it and was it expensive? (if you don't mind me asking)

Cheers

champs · 22/06/2005 23:51

Nat777 -- it's horrid isn't it!! i can feel myself going off on one and cant stop myself, which makes me even more wound up!! dh gets the brunt off it too!!

Redhelen -- It's the same size as this the same make but different model has a remote. it has a compartment at the side where you put water and one at the top where you put ice cubes. you can use it as a normal fan too.
It seems to work better than a fan as the air is cool.
I got it on a special in Makro 2or3 years ago and it's still going strong. I see them on special there all the time still so if you know anyone with a Makro card ask them to get you one, well worth it.

champs · 22/06/2005 23:52

*meant to say my model came with a remote.

oh yeah it has a sleep mode too

merglemergle · 23/06/2005 06:28

Oooh, I've only just seen this thread, can I moan too?

What is really annoying me is that after the baby is born(in about 2 weeks hopefully), I will have to go through all that fluid retention stuff, plus spend most of the summer carrying about 20 extra stone around. Moan moan!

Second summer baby, with last being at end of August 2003 heatwave. Next baby I have will be PLANNED!

suzywong · 23/06/2005 06:40

ahhhhh quit you're moaning, I was 38 weeks pg with a 9 pounder when it hit 100 degrees F in 2003

jessicasmummy · 23/06/2005 08:05

Gonna be anoth scorcher - i am refusing to leave the house today - 31 degrees here apparently!

Ended up with slight heat stroke last night, so DH has put me on orders to stay in the shade even if i do go out - a day under the brolly in the paddling pool i feel!

kate100 · 23/06/2005 09:28

Just noticed this thread, can I moan too? I'm 34+5 and am sooooo hot. I'm not going anywhere today. Maybe a little foot soak in DS's paddling pool, but that will be it. I should know better had DS in July 2003, we spent all of dh's paternity leave in the house as it was too hot to go out. We aren't going to have anymore children, as we think my pregnancies may be contributing to global warming!!!
