Sexiness in late pregnancy

Last night I took a look at myself lying in bed- I had most of the pillows in the house propping me up to help with heartburn, DPs old t shirt on to stop me scratching my stretchmarks, massive support belt for SPD, a belly that has gone past the point of beautifully fertile and into the realm of just bloody massive, ankles that are wider than my legs, bra that is somewhere between a teenagers training bra and an old ladies boulder holder, breastpads, panty liner stuck in old grotty massive knickers, dark body hair everywhere, and if I could see my bits, I am pretty sure they are swollen and full of varicose veins! And still DP was cuddling and kissing me and fetching me snacks and so on! He even half heartedly tried to seduce me, bless him. It was lovely because I'm pretty sure he knew it was out of the question (he has to turn me in bed due to the SPD) but he made me feel wanted anyway. Instead we just talked about what we are going to do once I am up for it after the birth.

Do you lot have stories of a sex life in very late pregnancy? With my first, we had sex to bring on the labour - that seems laughable now!

woodhj - I just wanted to say I'm sure that your DH thinks you are GORGEOUS. Apart from anything else you are carrying his child and most men (?) find that very sexy. LOL at his offer of you watching telly while having sex though!

Am I the only one whose husband is taking some persuading?!! I have been soooo up for it all the way through (26 weeks today) but it turns out he's not been trying it on because he was worried about hurting the baby. Soon put him straight on that one, but I'm not sure he's convinced! If anyone has some top tips on how to get him to stop worrying and JUST DO IT they would be gratefully received!

Feel appallingly unsexy. Not sure how DH feels. He seems to love my growing bump, though. All a bit confusing, TBH. Don't want to disappear into bumphood then motherhood and never feel sexy again. Maybe the raging hormones will kick in and solve this for me!

I have one of thoses nasty veins too! hOW SHOCKING ARE THEY?!

Developed it in last pregnancy about 32 wks and i was truly mortified. Fully expected to get it back this time and i wasnt wrong. Came back about 20 odd wks. Its hideous. Its another thing to put me off sex.

Im 36 wks and dont look too bad. Ive very small but i do have cankles, that nasty vein and terrible thrush. Dont feel at all sexy. This is the least ive felt like sex with all my pregnancies. We still do it but not that often which i hate. My dp too has also offfered to let me watch telly while we do it. Poor bloke

MrsJeff - show him this thread. If that doesn't work, how about you mention it to the midwife and report back to him? Worked for me - she just emphasised that the happier the Mum the happier the foetus.

Woodhj - yes the vv and the piles do go away, or at least retreat massively. After my birth the midwife commented on the size of my piles and ladybit vvs, as they were so large she thought they might need treatment. I was oblvlious to their existence until then, as was DH. I think he was just distracted by the size of my boobs for 9 months.

(PS: They went by themselves within a week)

I just want to say to all of you who responded to this thread - it really made me laugh & smile.....

Its funny how you think - or your partner believes - that its just you that feels like this - but clearly - its not!!! lol

Had my 3rd child 4 weeks ago nearly & still feel like an old pair of knickers that the elastics gone out of!!!!
Poor us........

Thanks Fiziwizzle and carmenelectra.
I never knew you could get varicos veins down there, i thought varicos veins and the constant itching with thrush was some hideous disease that i would have to show the midwife. Funny how quite a level headed person can become frantic and irrational when its their unborn baby.

I am now full of cold with bright red nose, cracked lips and big bags under the eye's but luckily i know DH loves me and all my problems should disapear were as his beer gut and receeding hairline wont
