This baby has suddenly gone nuts. Properly violently trashing around, all over the place, ribs, cervix, organs. Moving so much and so fast I have just thrown up (although anything makes me throw up these days!).

He has been like this for about 45 mins, and he will not stop. He has not been this active before.

I called the number on notes, put through to the labour ward, who told me to stop worrying, it will settle down 'is this your first dear? have a warm bath'. DH thinks she must know what she is talking about, as she is the midwife.

But I read that it could be a sign of distress if it comes on suddenly?

i would go in if i was you. i have got more worried with each pregnancy think it is a case of ignorance is bliss. This is mt 3rd

crying on the phone is always useful. the fact you are under the weather could be the cause but you are not going to settle until you are told everything is ok.

twolittlekings · 03/11/2009 20:39

Hello Pavlov, how are things today?

harimosmummy · 03/11/2009 20:47

Agree totally with Raindrop - I worried much more with DD (No. 2) than with DS (No. 1).

Ignorance is bliss...

And, no one ever really, truly prepares you for HOW BLOODY MUCH you love this thing.

I think with No. 2, you already know things that could go wrong and how much you really, desperately want to meet this little person.

Hope all is OK, Pavlov.

twolittlekings · 03/11/2009 20:50

yes harimosmummy - agree! I do think ignorance is bliss. I worried in pg no1 but even more in no 2!!

Fabster · 03/11/2009 20:52

I knew something was wrong with my baby but felt dismissed by the midwife as I was crying. She sent me home about 5 minutes after finding the heart beat.

Baby born the next day by emergency section.

Pavlov - I used to just turn up at the hospital whenever I wanted checking when I was having baby number 2 and wouldn't take any crap from them.

twolittlekings · 03/11/2009 20:58

Do you know that a lady who was in hospital the same time I was told me something similar Fabster. She had been dismissed by her MW and consultant as being paranoid (she was not due to give birth for another month). He sent her home and said nothing to worry about but in the hospital lift she told herself she was not convinced since she had had a bad experience in her fisrt birth (hence the reason for a consultant). She went back upstairs and demanded to be put on a monitor and would not leave until they did. She was, and they rushed her into theatre 10 mins later and her baby was delivered by emergency C-section.

I'm not saying this to worry anyone but yes you should never be fobbed off if you are anxious. As one MW told me, anxiety in itself is not a good thing in a pregnant lady!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 03/11/2009 22:18

Hey ladies, thanks for checking in on me! Well, firstly I have a cold, had a fever last night, which luckily broke, now left with a snotty nose and a dry barking cough!

Also, baby has engaged. So I am guessing that it was he was doing? Frantically swimming downwards perhaps or adjusting his position? He has been moving regularly today, in particular when I ate Phish Food! And my legs are heavy, my bowels are being pressed, i am waddling when I walk, in fact walking is now a struggle, when yesterday morning it was not. And I had a show. So I think the baby is making an entrance this side of 2 weeks not the next side .DH said he now thinks baby is imminent, where before today he did not (and he should know these things, when I woke up wit my waters broken with DD, and the start of labour, I woke him up, at 5:30am to tell him, and his first reaction, before I even spoke was 'i have just had a weird dream that you were in labour!' and I said 'well actually, I am! DD was 10 days early so its not like we were expecting her or had any signs!).

I am still annoyed about the labour ward and feel tht should i need to call them again, I will be more pushy. 12 hours in hosp to confirm all is well with baby is not that a big deal really, and I will insist on it if I am concerned again.

Fabster · 04/11/2009 07:16

A show is good .

I don't want to worry anyone as my experience probably isn't the norm but tbh I feel scaring people is okay if it means a mum gets checked and potentially saves the baby.

What are your plans today Pavlov?

twolittlekings - that reminds me of something that happened when I was pregnant with DS2. I had refused to have the same midwife at the surgery as I had had with DD so I had to be found another one. She came to my house and said she couldn't give me what I wanted so wouldn't be my midwife. I just wanted reassurance that everything would be okay. I know that no on can give that 100% but I just wanted extra support.

Kathyis12feethighandbites · 04/11/2009 09:00

Wa-hey - sounds like you are soon to be released from the 9-month sentence of HG! (time off for good behaviour?)

Keeping everything crossed that you will be posting a birth announcement soon.

princessmel · 04/11/2009 09:11

Good news about the show Pavlov

I always found that after a lot of movement from my baby I had more show/dishcharge. It's like the baby moved and wriggled ad pushed more out. tmi!

twolittlekings · 04/11/2009 09:24

OMG how EXCITING!!!! Great news about the show. I was 10 days overdue and I could not take anymore - I could hardly bear it by the end!!!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 04/11/2009 10:18

What am I doing today? frantically attempting to finish off a defence and counterclaim for the court in relation to the arsehole builder who is suing me (some kind of joke it seems) and who we are suing back. He produced a 100 word letter as his argument, with no evidence as yet. I am producing a 6500 word defence and counter claim and a TON of evidence - see how he likes them apples . It needs to be in tomorrow and i keep having at the back of my mind, baby can arrive any time, so best get it done today.

Then, i am making butternut squash soup. I have tidied the entire place, almost, as i feel this baby may make an appearance soon. But not right now. He is still very very very active, i keep getting strong kicks with legs.arms visible on my RHS, followed by steong BH and pushing on my pelvis. He is up to something.

kathy did you find the sickness worsened again towards the end? I have had some respite for a while, only sick a few times a week, but these last few days been sick every day several times.

Kathyis12feethighandbites · 04/11/2009 10:21

Sounds like you are nesting!

Yes it did worsen towards the end, but I had extra stress with work so assumed it was due to that. I found it hard to eat in the last few days as well. Then I threw up again when I went into labour.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 04/11/2009 10:33

DH thinks I am nesting as I bought tupperware pots for freezer food I am intending to make, and labels and am getting upset at things like the floor being dirty all the time. As I can't clean it easily atm he is having to do it daily! (possibly more to do with not wanting to get dirt from kitchen floor on our nice new carpets )

Kathyis12feethighandbites · 04/11/2009 10:42

tupperware pots with labels definitely nesting

Fabster · 04/11/2009 11:07

Yep, nesting

I did mine at 9 weeks .

Take it easy, you need energy for labour.

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 05/11/2009 15:45

38+1 wks. Just seen the midwife. Before she checked me and baby, she said most likely reason for the urgent activity was baby moving into position, checked, and low and behold, he is fully engaged . I said he continues to be rather active, and she said this is normal. Baby's heartbeat is fine, he kicked her a few times while she was checking him and said he seemed fine. She said she would not be surprised if he arrives soon, given how I look, feel and am walking, but cannot say for sure, as it is known for some women to go like for weekd . But she said, she would prefer he held off a few days, as it is not ideal me being poorly with cold - like he will listen to her if he is ready !

Thanks for all the reassurances everyone.

princessmel · 05/11/2009 19:16

Great news pavlov
I hope something happens for you. I was in a similar 'it could happen at any minute' position for over 2 weeks before ds2 came!! I sympathise
