Has anyone had an ERPC under local anaesthetic?

Did it make you feel faint at all?

For some reason, that's my main concern

They knocked me totally out for mine - do you have the choice?

same here, I was knocked out for mine.....wasn't aware you had a choice.

You do have a choice at my hospital - not sure about nationwide.

I would personally opt to be knocked out totally. I have had a similar procedure done under local anasthetic and it was painful and not a nice thing to be awake through.

What was the similar procedure if you don't mind me asking Shiny? I've had a colposcopy with biopsy and that made me feel faint, which is what I'm worried about. The nurse assures me it's not like that and says that women say it's easier than the biopsy but I must ask MN to verify her story!!

i had a general, wouldn't have wanted to be awake for it tbh.

a termination , that's the first time I have said that - so be gentle. When I had the erpc they said it was almost the same procedure.

oh Shiny - whatever the reason for it, it must have been really difficult for you. I'm so sorry. Do you mind if I ask how many weeks you were? I'm just wondering if you were much later on, it might have been more painful because of that? I'm 9 weeks.

No it was pretty much about the same as 9 weeks, maybe I have a lower pain threshold but I have had a csection and left the next day without any painkillers only paracetamol and managed that.
I also found a canula in my hand more painful that the epidural for the csection, so maybe I have bizarre pain receptors .
Please don't let me influence you - do what feels right for you, and I am sorry you're going throught this.
