Quick question about nursing bras

Am 29 weeks pg and feel like I could do with being re-sized (again) for support bras, however don't really have long left and was wandering if now would be an ok time to buy nursing ones instead? Is there a recommended time to get measured for nursing bras? Am I likely to change size much from here on in? Thanks

i went about 39 wks to markies and they said come back when you are about 36/37 wks pg. and they were right! i went up a size or 2 in that time. are your boobs leaking milk etc? are they sore and heavy? mine were from day one and they just kept on getting bigger and bigger, but stopped about 36 wks.

Thanks nailpolish! Boobs are leaking milk but just a very tiny ammount. Not feeling paticularly heavy or sore in fact just the opposite, chest is possibly feeling more normal than it has done since became pg - needed support bras from 8 weeks and went up a couple of sizes very quickly - maybe now my bump is bigger it's put things inperspective IYKWIM! Was wandering about the whole bra thing as don't want to end up spending more money than I need to.

no, its a nightmare, spending money on bras wondering how long they will fit for. hope it works out ok, im sure the ladies in the bra fitting place will help too

I had my bras from NCT, and they advised that you shouldn't have yourself measured for a nursing bra until at least 36 weeks. You can change an awful lot in the last couple of months, so leave it as late as you dare.

Twiga I bought nursing bras instead of maternity ones and they actually were the ones that fitted me. I went in at 38wks, got measured went one size up or whatever they do and the bra was always too big. I found the Elle Macpherson maternelle were the most supportive but only go up to an E cup but it is generous. They were a bit more expensive than some but I figured when I ended up weaning I would probably shrink back into the slightly smaller ones and in actual fact they didn't change.

Thanks chuffed, I've been using Mothercare for bras so far and they seem to be ok, am always on the look out for other recomendations though. Maternity bras/nursing bras are not the most attractive are they?!

The best and most confy nursing bra Ive found and my friend who has had 4 also swears by it is the Emma Jane one which says its also good for sleeping. Its about £12.50 I think- looks like a sports bra a bit. Has hook and eyes.

Hey hope don't mind joining in - am bra fitter for pregger ladies. I regularly fit Bravado Bras because they cover a range of sizes in one go and are REALLY comfy. I had then and then stocked them was so impressed. Saw me through from 34 B to 36 E with just one bra!! Sleep bra nd maternity and has snaps for feeding - saved me a fortune and best seller in shop. Hope that helps! Also do Emma Jane - go for a feeding bra if you intend to feed for over three months as breasts and rib cage shrink a little and it will refit at a later date. Also have it done on widest setting so that you can bring it back in after baby born and ribs shrunk.

The nice women in my local lingerie shop said to go back in the last month for nursing bra fitting. Basically when the baby moves down in the pelvis and your ribs start to shrink back.

I think my boobs got bigger after DS2 was born, I didn't get fitted for proper bras until a few weeks after he came.

I found Bravado very comfy but not that supportive. I still use them for sleep.

One good money-saving tip - if it's just your band size that's gone up, you can use bra extenders. They sell them with sewing equipment, but you don't sew them on, you just clip them on, IYSWIM. Very practical.

notentsplease - I am 34 weeks pregnant and noticed on the web that Bravado have introduced a new bra called the Supreme Nursing Bra. Do you know if this is available in the UK yet? When I had DS1 and 2 I went up to a size 34/36 F/G (can't remember exactly which) so a lot of the smaller nursing bras crawl away in terror!
