Bio or non-bio?

I was just wondering which washing liquid I should use.

I have read that non-bio is better for the skin but not as efficient at removing stains.

And the more I read the more confused I get!

I am aiming to wash LO and our clothes together.

It's pretty much as you said. Non-bio is not as harsh for skin, and not quite as effective as getting stains out. But we always use non bio for whole family and it's fine. Just use vanish stick on stains before wash and you should be fine.

What are you confused about Guernsey?

i'#ve always used non-bio on everything and it's fine. i use ecover stain remover on anything that might need a bit extra power.

A lot of it depends on whether you have sensitive skin. If you don't, bio is best as it removes grubby stains. If you do, use non-bio to avoid rashes and other nasties.

Ah thanks for this! I wondered too but always just use non-bio. Maybe i could use bio on DF's mucky work shirts and jeans then..but will stick to non-bio for DC's clothes.

Having used non-bio for years I have now read (as a result of buying cloth nappies for the first time) that the enzymes in bio get used up in the first part of the cycle and in theory there shouldn't be anything left to irritate skin by the end of the wash. Started to use some, for clothes that are stained, and it hasn't irritated me at all (and I had to stop using the laundry service for bedding when I lived in halls of residence years ago because of terrible rashes) so I'm guessing bio powders / liquids have changed alot in the last 20 years.
