Just trying to get a gauge whether I have unrealistic expectations
First pregnancy - felt well in second trimester, even if a bit tired.
I'm 17 weeks now and feel exhausted all of the time and everything feels a major hurdle. I'm thinking of going to bed again, before I even get out of it in the morning.
Please give me other experiences that I'm not going to feel like this for another 20 weeks?

Maybe there is something to the old wives tale of blooming with boys as with DS1 and DS2 and felt marvellous after the first trimester....full of energy, great thick hair, lovely skin, nice neat bump.....I even enjoyed wearing maternity clothes!!!! (though before you all start to think I am being very smug, I had horrific births both times so got my payback!!!) This time round I feel DREADFUL....no energy, bad skin, hair all lank and greasy, looking fat instead of pregnant, so I am thinking perhaps I am carrying a girl this time? Will find out in 6 weeks time at the next scan........ OR it could just be that this time I am older and have 2 boys to chase around after....

My Mum did.

I most certainly didn't. Sorry!

Can I just shatter the myth of blooming for a boy but not a girl...

DS was (obviously) a boy and I felt horrendous the whole time.

This one is apparently a girl, and I feel awesome!

I most certainly did not bloom. Not until I gave birth by EMCS, and despite the lifting restrictions I was raring to go within a few days. DS is 8 weeks now, and I never had the hormonal crash you're meant to have a few days after. I just felt better and better and so happy the pregnancy was over! Mind you, I had SPD, hyperemesis, tendonitis in my wrists, numb hands/fingers, and antenatal depression. There was no possibility of blooming!

I felt pretty blue and tired in the first trimester then from about 11 weeks onwards until about 26 felt fabulous which really surprised me. Sure, I had heartburn, constipation, insomnia etc but overall I had great energy levels, felt healthy and positive, and apparently bloomed. I never had long nails though - they just peeled off constantly whilst pregnant.

At 26 weeks I felt dizzy, shattered and horrid but discovered I had low iron levels. Once this was rectified I felt ok again but I can definitely say now I'm 28 weeks that the energy levels and healthiness is starting to wane. I'm getting achey bits and can't walk around for too long and feeling more tired. I think the last trimester, for me, will be the tricky one.

I had blooming morning sickness, blooming , blooming swollen ankles and DD broke my blooming rib with her kicking. This was up to week forty when I developed blooming pre eclampsia! So although I didnt bloom at all (and was told this on a regular basis ) I would do it all again in a heartbeat - think its the first of the this too will pass phases!
