Hi

NCT Sale is on tomorrow and I was wondering what sort of things are normally for sale there?

I'm 25 weeks pregnant with first baby and so far I've got a sling and thats it so was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about what I should look out for there?

Cheers

I'm off to my local NCT sale in a bit - AIBU to be excited???

Liskey · 04/10/2009 10:15

YANBU - its perfectly justified you have to see what new things are there which you neeed/want/might like the look of

Plus next time I'm not taking DH who doesn't like sale shopping at the best of times! I already told him we don't have to go to the Barnsley one, next Saturday, as we got a lot of stuff but I might go there by myself.

Thanks piprabbit - i will do that, sounds like its really worth going and getting stuck in!

Unless you're really short of cash - I wouldn't bother. I went to one at the weekend. There was a 100 metre queue by the time the doors opened. The NCT promise of members getting in half an hour early didn't seem to apply to this particular one, so we ended up queing for 20 mins in horrible weather.

It was really cramped and crowded and I was worried my bump would get battered.

Mostly clothing for all ages. Very little equipment for a new born. No maternity clothing. Some toys and books all looking pretty worse for wear. It was really just a jumble sale. I don't think I'll go to any more, and I certainly won't subject my fella to it. I don't think its worth it unless you know exactly what you want (then chances are they won't have it) or are really open minded about what you get.

If you want to buy second hand stuff I'm sure Ebay is far more civilised (not that I've ever used Ebay so I don't really know) or wait for the sales to buy new baby clothes at reduced cost.

I'm sticking to the shops.

Bubbles, sorry your local one was a disappointment but lots of NCT sales are much better than that. On ebay quite a lot of what you pay will go on postage and ebay/paypal fees and I think most people will get more for their money at a nearly new sale, and sellers will probably make more even though it will cost buyers less.

They are normally better for clothes for younger babies and for toys.

Deemented, did you find anything?

CarGirl · 05/10/2009 23:36

Actually they not supposed to let members in early because it is a membership by charitable donation which means that members should not get any priveledges.

Def find out about helping at the next one. I've been helping for over 11 years!!

You get the pick of the bargains but more importantly you actually get to shop in a civilised manor plus you get half a day (or longer) off from your dc! Mine came with me when they were tiny and sat out the back until they squawked for food.

Did i find anything??? Wow!!!

I got...

22 babygros - in NB and 0-3
20 Vests - in NB and 0-3
1 NB Sleeping bag
1 Grobag
Snowsuit 0-3
2 Cardigans
Hat
7 piece outfit 0-3
5 coloured cellular blankets (these were just 50p!!!)

All for £22.80!!

The baby is all taken care of now - only to buy socks, an a couple of cosytoes for the pram and we're done. Now all we need is the baby!!!

And yes, it was a bit of a scrum - i started queuing at 9.10, and it didn't open til 10.30am, and there was already a good 15 people in front of me - i came out at 11 and there were still people queuing to get in!!!
