TAMBA - the Twins and Multiple Births Association sells books. They are online.

Don't know of anywhere else, I'm afraid. YOu could try searching in Amazon or somewhere - but I can't recommend anything as I have no personal experience of this. On Amazon people do do reviews of books, though.

I'm a twins mum and I think one of the reasons that you're not getting much response is that I found there was a real shortage of good books on twins 5 years ago when I was in the market. Since then Dr Carol Coopers come out with a big tome - don't know what it's like. Think a mumsnet book on twins is called for!

I got the Cooper book (twins & multiple births: the essential guide from pregnancy to adulthood. £10.) I like it very much. It's easy to read, and down to earth. It deals well with some of the potential problems of being a twin mum. It also goes beyond babyhood and deals with schooling & adulthood.

Also consider the Multiple Birth Foundation who are brilliant - gave us lots of help.

Good luck!

I'd agree with Roberta, I didn't find much when I was expecting twins either, at about the same time.
I think most twins mums just muddle through, and find their own ways of doing things, as most of the usual advice just doesn't apply.
I think a Mumsnet book on multiple births would be a great idea, we could all pass on our tips !!
I found the twins club in my area, not much good. I expected to find these really organised women, who could pass on some worthwhile advice, but just found a bunch even madder than me, who seemed to have lost the plot ages ago !!!

i found the multiple pregancy sourcebook by nancy bowers, r.n., b.s.n.(isbn0-7373-0306-9)a mine of information, you do have to search around for the bits that you want and being an american publication the pre & post natal checks are very different. i think a book that guides you through a multiple pregnancy would be great, i really wanted to know what was going on and who was where and why they kept punching my stomach so hard!!! but the best thing would be a book telling you what to expect with a twin birth, i found it all a bit overwhelming.
i will be happy to chat with any other twin mums on line i have holly & james who are 4 months old on the 5th of june

have a look at www.twinsclub.co.uk - there are some very active forums there where all things twins (and triplets) are discussed by parents. There is also a list of books available among other things. They also have a list of local twins clubs so there may be one in your area you can get in touch with.

how do I cope with twins and a toddler - hmmm - I'm not sure sometimes ! I have a pretty good toddler which helps (although he hit the terrible twos early). I guess cope because I have a very hands on husband, a very helpful mum, and twins that are very easy babies (easier put together than the singleton was - and he wasn't particularly bad) - all of which I am very grateful for.

How I will cope when the twins become mobile is another matter !
