We have just found out that we're having a boy! I agree with the posters who say it's the same surprise whenever you get it. On the birthday or at 20 weeks. In no way does it mean that on the day of the birth you'll be non-plussed by the whole thing! You'll be getting to meet the little baby you've been obsessing over for the past 9 months, the gender is fairly irrelevant at that stage I imagine.

It's also been lovely to have something special at the half-way point of pregnancy, especially if, like me, you've spent the first half feeling miserable with sickness and hormones.

Now we know the sex, my baby seems more real to me, I don't think we've spoiled the mystique at all. In fact, my DH and I were able to celebrate the news and get excited about the gender (and enjoy having a little secret again, like in the first 12 weeks!) without all the chaos and mind-blowing aftermath of childbirth to distracte us.

Just my view, if you like the idea of finding out on the day instead then I'm sure you'll love the surprise then too!

Didn't find out with either DS, and didn't mind what we had. Understand it's different for everyone so do what's right for you
