Any fat pcos women who got pregnant naturally?

I'm having treatment and losing weight but wondered if there are any success stories to cheer me up!

After 12 months of trying my doctor sent me for tests in march which confirmed I had PCOS. I had started to lose wieght before it was confirmed (was 17 stone in Jan but dropped two stone by April) but the doctor told me that it was going to be a struggle for me to concieve.

Three weeks after the diagnosis I was feeling a little rough and was a few days late, did a test which came back positive. I am now at 28 weeks all going fine.

I get the feeling my body just want to prove the doctor wrong, won't ever forget the phone call telling him

I had fertility drugs first time around. Second and third pregnancies were natural but I had very early miscarriages. Fourth time was natural and DS2 is 4 months.

Are you taking metformin? My PCOS specialist regards it as a highly effective fertility drug as well as treatment for PCOS. I took it throughout both pregnancies. Since having DS2 I've lost a lot of weight and am no longer overweight.

Hi, I have PCOS, I'm not especially fat def but not skinny PCOS either. Diagnosed around 6 years ago, no cycles at all after I came off pill. Lost 1.5 stone (that was all I needed to loose) following the PCOS diet book by Colette Harris did the foresight programme, had weekly acupuncture and went to gym 3 times a week; that was enough to conceive naturally. Was offered metformin but decided that wanted to try drug free route first instead.

14 stone/5 foot 2 PCOS sufferer here - i.e. very overweight! Was prepared by entire medical profession for terrible traumas getting pregnant - especially as I was 30 when I started trying so add in being "old" to the fertility mix! Fell pregnant first month of trying both times and have a 3 year old and 10 week old to show for it.

It literally confounds every doctor I ever speak to as they just can't understand how I got pregnant so easily - and not only once, but twice!!!

I do think I was exceptionally lucky though.

I'm about 14 stone and five nine with PCOS. I conceived DS with metformin and thanks to that and dieting got down to a shade under 12 stone before he has conceived. I need to lose weight but unfortunately am having a stressful time at the mo.

Have conceived twice since DS born (whilst overweight again) and lost them both. Weight is an important factor not just in getting pregnant but staying pregnant, unfortunately .

Should have said 2 pregnancies I lost were conceived whilst not taking Metformin, so yes, naturally.

Taking metformin in pregnancy reduces the risk of miscarriage and also developing gestational diabetes.

I agree. Reducing weight and taking metformin are more likely to result in a positive outcome in pregnancy for a woman with PCOS. Unfortunately my two lost pregnancies were not planned, so I wasn't taking it. Very much wanted, but not planned. I stupidly assumed I wouldn't get pregnant without it.

I have PCOS. I was diagnosed when trying for baby number 1. I was around 17 stone and very short. I was told that I could not have clomid until I lost some weight. I lost about 4 stone (so still overweight) and fell pregnant naturally. Ds1 is now 8 years old. With ds2, I lost weight before trying to conceive and fell pregnant first month. Ds3 was a suprise. I was very overweight again and didn't think I could conceive so didn't use any birth control. Ooops! He is now 13 months old.

I'm 5 foot 5 and 110 kg - so over 17 stone. - Would like to lose 3 stone by Christmas - is this possible do you think?

I've been ttc 18 months and my specialist says I need bmi under 35 and then he'll start me on clomid (already taking metformin). Have also started swimming four times a week and some weight is coming off but not as fast as I had hoped.

I've had two babies conceived after losing weight. The fertility clinic here had some interesting statistics up on the wall. Something like (and I don't remember exact figures) of overweight women struggling to conceive 80% got pg after losing 5% of their starting weight and 90% (or was it 95%) after losing 10% of their weight. It seemed to work for me anyway. It is really hard though. I was never offered metformin but was told clomid would be the next step after losing weight.

I conceived DS1 and DS2 after taking chlomid (three cycles each time) and conceived DS3 without even trying. I was the biggest I'd been (16 stone) when I conceived him.

Good luck with the weight loss. Have you asked about Metformin? You don't need to see a fertility specialist, but and endocrynologist. Ask your doctor.

Me! I am quite fat - never been under 100kgs and am 5' 6". I am PCOS and have gotten pregnant both times when I want to.

So many doctors automatically assume overweight means messed up. I eat well, I exercise a lot and am quite fit - I just also have a fat on my arse/thighs/boobs etc.

My weight is not the worse thing in the world, am similarly shaped to my grandmother/great grandma and both of them lived well into their 90s (in good health as well) the whole time and had 5 and 7 children respectively.

My fertility doc is an expert endocrinologist too.

I'd be really happy to get to 100kg. Am on Metformin already - not doing an awful lot.
