Sharp pains in my bump - but I'm 26 weeks, so they cant STILL be growing ligaments, can they?

basically that - whilst I had aches and pains in my lower stomach in my first trimester, I figured by 26 weeks they'd not still be stretching.. so what si causing them, shoudl I be worried, or not? It's like a stitch, and on both sides, but thankfully not simultaneously. Goes after a few moments, but it's darn painful. It's my DC3, and so baby IS lying lower etc, but I guess I just wanted reassurance..

I had something similar at about 22 weeks... I'm now 40+2.... Mine got so bad that I went to hospital for an overnight stay but they never found out what it was other than I was pregnant!!! I think its fairly common and was probably ligaments/stretching etc... I only went to hospital as it was on my right hand side and they wanted to check for pre-eclampsia and also appendisits (spelling???) etc...

If you are worried I would speak to your midwife - that's what they are there for etc... mine always says its nothing to worry about but just hearing her say its nothing makes me not worried if you know what I mean.

I did mention is to my obstr. and he just said it was because it was my third, and the baby was lying really really low, which is why I can feel soooo much movement already so early, much more than with the previous DC. I just thought that any ligaments I have would already be well stretched by now, I mean, after 2 other kids, and what with this baby being small (but me being massive). Sigh, yet another annoying symptom. Thanks for the reassurance though, it does help to know I'm not a freak..

definitely not a freak! I was quite amazed at the number of people who had the same thing and no one found out exactly what it was etc... so believe that it is rather common...

if you are a freak then I'm a freak too
