Despite delicately asking friends and midwives what might indicate labour is starting, noone has mentioned this other than on MN, which it is bandied about in the most knowing of tones.

Let's have it then, what is a 'show'?

It looks like the product of a particularly huge, blood tinged sneeze. Fairly obvious when you see one for yourself.

My dh kept calling it 'a west end show'.

Ie:
me 'I feel a bit funny..'
dh 'Any sign of a west end show yet?'

Just goes to prove that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing in some hands...
