I am 12 weeks still sick all day, weight loss now of 1/2 stone, eating is becoming really hard and I'm so weak. I have a really active 20 month old and the two types of tablets I have been given aren't working!

HELP!

I was in hospital for 9 months of my pregnancy with DS1 i was sick from the word go and was fed through a drip and a tube directly into my stomach it wasn't fun. I feel for you. I had a smililar thing in my second pregnancy but managed to spend a few months out of hospital, i used to live off Rich tea biscuits, i would eat them all through the night a nibble at a time to ease my stomach.

Take it easy andbe kind to yourself.

Different drugs work for different people - I started on Avomine but found it made me excessively drowsy, to the point that I couldn't function at all. GP then prescribed stemetil which worked really well for me. I still felt ill a lot of the time but not as bad as I did before, and was still occasionally sick but again, nothing like as much. Just a few times a week instead of several times a day.

I'm now 35+ weeks and not taking any medication. I still feel unwell at times, but so infrequently now that it seems a relief not to feel like that all the time and I can cope with it.

Best of luck to you, I will never forget how ill I felt and how down it made me. You have my sympathy. It will pass

Hi tryingtobemarypoppins! I'm mum to two girls (now aged 11 & 9) and am currently in early pregnancy following a miscarriage in April. I had chronic sickness for the 1st 4mths with both my girls (particularly the 1st) to the point where I wasn't even easily keeping water down! Was vv bad and I got v dehydrated to the point where they nearly took me in.I so sympathise with u and wish there was something I could suggest, other than munching on very little and v often (even if u have to force it down!)I progressed frm eating nothing much to just being able to stomach cheese on toast and oranges! Gradually it usually eases though and it is a gd sign for sure! I believe that as alot of people say, if you experience worse than average sickness u are more likely to be pregnant with a girl..(or multiple!) worked for me! and I now have two v healthy daughters (despite hardly eating for 1st 4mths!)
This pregnancy though, totally different..a little nausea but hardly any! boobs hurt unbelievably (didn't change at all in either of previous pregnancys) and I want to eat everything and anything! Good luck! They say ginger works 4 sickness though didn't work for me! xx

Please, please try acupuncture. You'll just need someone to show you where once, it's the point on the wrist, and then you should be able to DIY with a bit of help. It doesn't help with the nausea (but none of the drugs seem to either), but it vastly reduced the sickness second time for me. Your baby will be splendid, so def. don't fret on that front
