8 Weeks pregnant and terrible acid indigestion!!!!

I'm 8 weeks pg. Have had morning sickness since 6 weeks. The ms seems to have gotten less intense the past few days (happened last time at 8 wks too).

Anyway, it has been replaced by acid indigestion . I feel like the acid from my stomach is burning my throat. I've tried gaviscon original tablets, not much better at all. Today I got some rennie dual action tablets and they have helped a little but I can still feel the burn... Have checked and both remidies i've tried are safe in pregnancy.

I've had a few small glasses of milk with no lasting effect. Don't want to drink too much as I read somewhere that if you drink too much milk for indigestion then your stomach goes in to overdrive and produces more acid as you can make it too alkaline...

Any ideas? I'm fed up!

Damn, dh went to morissons and I asked him to get some of the liquid stuff, none their either! I now have 3 packets of tablets . All the shops here are cr*p!

Will have to go to boots tomorrow...

Liz - I hope it doesn't get worse, i'm running out of things I can eat! Any tips on what is best to eat to keep it to a minimum?

By the way, Gaviscon advance comes in peppermint flavour and aniseed flavour. I asked my GP to specify peppermint on the presciption as aniseed makes me heave.

Ah thanks, yeah noticed that. Aniseed? Why on earth would you want that taste when you already have indigestion??!!

Brettgirl I'm only on 20mg - maybe I'll head back to the doc and get him to double it

Dalrymps - no hints as to what to eat. I found I could eat something one day and be fine and the next day it would set me off. Too confusing, so in the end I just eat what I like, but in small doses. Eating big meals is really the biggest no no.

The thing that worked best for me in all four pgs (from 10 weeks) was lots of pillows and warm milk, I think I drank up to four litres a day. I did glug bottles of Gaviscon advance and the chewy ones.....

posieparkerinChina · 26/07/2009 14:44

The hotter you can drink it the better!!

Dalrymps · 26/07/2009 16:31

Will try warm milk tonight!

The only thing that helps me is bananas. It's something to do with the potassium.

I have to avoid at all costs (from about 6pm): sugar, chocolate, anything very fatty, tomatoes.

I had the jumbo bottles of Gaviscon for both my pregnancies. Just glugged it from the bottle for instant relief! Never had it since though.

The 'never had it since' comment is reassuring!
