...wrap-around top

...comedy slogan t-shirt ("Does my bump look big in this?" aaaargh!)

...black wardrobe - I am not in mourning

...pair of pyjamas/nightshirt with Winnie the Sodding Bastard Pooh on them

...in fact pair of pyjamas with any kind of slogan or picture motif on them

...pyjamas & tops with those tiny little adjustable bra straps that just fall off in bed and give you a dead arm - I want some wide straps please!

Sorry, been doing a bit of online shopping and am starting to despair. Why is it so hard to find clothes in colours other than black, grey and navy? If we must have dark colours, how about a bit of teal or purple? Or can we go mad and have a print that was designed after 1996?

I really want a pair of crisp, white pyjamas or nightshirt - proper ones, with buttons and a collar (yes I know they will be ruined but I WANT THEM.) Where are they?

And if I read the words "soft cotton jersey" once more... I want linen! I want cheesecloth! I want broderie anglais!

Totally agree!
Most of my stuff has been handed over by my sister although I'm a bit shorter than she is so it's only been partially successful and I am having to employ the 'wash and wear' tactic to get through the week at work!

I too have to wear vests under all my tops to avoid flashing at everyone but fear I am going to melt if it gets any warmer.

I regularly go looking for new maternity wear and come home in a grump. Last time all I could see that might fit were some MC Hammer pants...

If at all poss buy one item from Isabella Oliver - more expensive then the highstreet yes but will make you feel like a Goddess!
And if you hurry some stuff is up to 60% off on her website

Oh I love this post. I have been screaming for decent maternity wear for the past 34 weeks. I wanted to look like one of those lovely glamorous pg ladies, Some flippin' hope.

next jeans - J.O.K.E -- i hear ya mrs kitty on the fact they are indecent and go up and down like a pair of tarts knickers. How glamorous do I appear at work trying to hitch them up along with a pair of comfortable bucket knickers?

H&M - made for emaciated people - their size 20 only fit people who weigh 5lb.

and why o why do all maternity clothes designers ASSUME i am going to put weight on my rear. I don't and I haven't -- sorry for those of you that have. So when I need a decent pair of mat trousers I end up looking like I am clothed in a parachute.

Oh and don't get me started on mcare nighties. vomitsville --However rather that than wearing a playboy g-string and camisole. which is what some young thing was wearing on the mat ward hours after giving birth last time around. The thought of putting a g -string anywhere near my body 2 years after giving birth brings me out in hives, let alone 2 hours. Granny knickers all the way for me.

Do under bump trousers work at all in last 10 weeks? I don't think they even existed when I was pregnant last time, and they have been great so far but today started to fall down. Have 3 pairs of similar linen trousers to get me through the summer but if they don't stay up at 25 weeks what will they be like at 32?

flibbertywidget lol must do more pelvic floor exercises before returning to this thread

Am I the only one who found that Next over the bump jeans were the only ones not to sink all the time? I tried lots of jeans and they were the only ones that stayed up.

Agree with the H&M maternity sizing (for jeans and trousers). You need to buy 3 sizes bigger for them to fit. I'm normally a 10-12 and ended up with a size 16 jeans with them, but other than that they fitted OK.

i could have written all these! nearly 25 weeks now and need a few decent bits of mat wear, could i find a damn thing on the high st? no. I spent 4 hours trailing round looking for straight leg trousers, found only 1 place doing dark indigo straight leg jeans (new look, £25) which will do. but honestly, am amazed I found that one thing, there is the bare minimum out there PLUS the minimal ranges that you DO find, theres nothing remotely fashionable let alone fashion-forward in any sense...NO i do not want out of fashion flares or floral smocks meant for teenyboppers playing at boho, and NO I do not want insipid pasty items I wouldn't wash the windows with and NO i do not want frumpy combats and NO I do not want weird vests with slogans on! Good lord, where do they think my brain cells have gone?? I like vintage and boutiques normally and knew I wouldn't be able to wear my normal 60s inspired stuff but I assumed naively (this being my 1st) that there would be some choice especially in department stores...

I have had to live in some nice long leggings I found in George of all places, with a zip feature at the ankle, along with 1 stretchy black dress and some bright tshirts underneath, all non-mat but stretchy; and have bought a fab high-necked victoriana style ditzy-print maternity blouse with gorgeous sleeves online which I haven't worn yet, plus I have a floaty red silk kneelength vintage edina ronay dress which was too tenty on me before to wear, am looking forward to getting a bit bigger and wearing that to an occasion sometime!! I can't even find nice PJs or nightshirts & will have to resort to a Primark tracksuit in the end.... argh

I am very happy to read this messages it gives me a few pointers.

I already had to buy 2 new bras. I spend 1h in M&S last saturday trying on trousers, ended up buying a size 18 for £12 normal dark denim. Im usually size 12-14 but nothing felt confortable. I have not put on weight but cannot close my usual pants.

Im starting my 9th week pregnancy and dread the days to come. I love my fashion.

I cannot show anything at work until my scan in week 12, I want to be sure. I guess I 'll have to shop online according to what you all written. thank again for sharing yoru experience!!!
